Mick and, Ric(I'm not a fan of, Rics personal life at all and i even think that REAL men SHOULDNT look up to, Ric) are two perfect examples of wrestlers that don't need to win a match to get more over/over. They don't even need to win most of their matches to still get over. In my opinion, yes, opinion...so many past fans/fans today always pitch their own personal biased opinion as, facts and not just opinions, as they are....my opinion is that most of the wrestlers/performers today, think they have to do, floppy, flippy moves every 10 seconds and have to win every match to get over. Also, they are afraid to sell today because selling is viewed as being weak VS being strong. It's so dumb. Try to Tell me 1 fighter/wrestlers who hasn't been hurt/raddled/hit so hard they almost shit themselves lol. Again, my opinion, a current wrestler/performer today gets more over when they do sell like crazy and sell well and then still find a way to win the match. Why do we think the Rocky movies ALWAYS did well......Rocky ALWAYS got his ass beat for every round and in that last round, he finds a way to win.....we love comebacks and also hate winners....it's weird lol. Met him in Cleveland at one of his shows, and instead of me peppering him with questions he started asking me about my Atticus Cogar shirt I was wearing and talking about Jimmy Rave. The promo where Mick went 'I think you know the guy!!!!! His name is CACTUS JACK!' That is very definitely in my top three promos ever. EVER. Everybody played their roles perfectly. I always loved Cactus more than Mankind or the Dude so when Foley started down this path I went CRAY CRAY. I marked like I never marked before. This last run between just before Summerslam all the way through to the really lackluster Mania was my favourite ever in wrestling, to this day. But 90% of it was down to Foley. Foley will always be in my personal Mt. Rushmore alongside Undertaker and Dustin Runnels simply because his promos were untouchable and I think he was much MUCH better in the ring than he ever thought himself.
@taffysaur Жыл бұрын
Goldust, huh? Interesting choice. I’m a huge fan of his also, always have been. You don’t see him on many people’s Mt. Rushmores.
@JeremiahEcks777 Жыл бұрын
@@taffysaur True, but it surprises me that more people don't rate him. Maybe they get hung up on some of the more dated aspects of Goldust, or maybe his Black Reign run, but Dustin is definitely one guy who should have been world champ once, somewhere. He's just technically so crisp and consummate, and his character work, when he's allowed, is convincing and rings true. The older Goldust stuff is phenomenal.
@taffysaur Жыл бұрын
@@JeremiahEcks777 Agreed. As far as character work especially, I think those three choices of yours belong up there on the mountain. Three of the most interesting and complex characters, that were able to evolve over time, and nobody could have played them like the men who did.

@@JeremiahEcks777 I never heard Mick or Conrad mention it when talking about Mick comebacks either. I got into wrestling early 98 when I was a Sophomore in High School. Mick was always my favorite since he was Dude Love feuding with Stone Cold. When they did retirement with Triple H in 2000. I thought it was an angle at first. Then found out he was really gone. Being grateful he even did that Mania 2000 match afterwards. After Mick left I still watched wrestling but wasn't as into it. And got less and less interested as time went on. Unless Mick was on the show. So in 2004 when he came back I was super excited. But after the Orton match I was a little sad. Because Mick looked better than ever and I didn't know when he would wrestle again. Well his next WWE match was Taboo Tuesday in late 2005. When the fans could pick what Foley character he would wrestle Carlito as. The feud with Carlito was only a few weeks long and match was just ok(but a rare WWE win for Mick in his comebacks). But it definitely gets lost in the shuffle between Orton and Edge feuds.

Big show had switched from heel to face several times before he ever won his first WWF title. It's not surprising his run in 99 was a dud. And Big Boss Man in 99 wasn't the same BBM who was selling out the Garden with Hogan in 89 and I mean no slight on him saying that. Just saying the momentum wasn't there for Show and his first title feud was never going to draw.

I gotta think Big Show's 1999 title run was set up to fail. They put the belt on him, and then have him in a feud with Big Bossman, a low-tier carder at best at that point-- not to mention how absurd the angle was. Bossman crashing Show's father's funeral and driving off with the casket = Wrestlecrap legend! ...And not in a god way. However bad that angle sounds... it was far, far worse. Big Show then dropped the belt to HHH on a Smackdown (or maybe RAW) in an absolutely forgettable fashion. Bleh.

I think it was post Russo creative. When Russo left, WWF needed a time to adjust to the new status quo. There was definitely a period there where things were unsettled and being churned around. Losing Austin at a key time, and his being unwilling to put over Triple H initially didn't help. You look at the booking at the time and everything was unstable late 1999. It was great and fun, but things were unstable. By 2000 things started to settle into the New Status Quo with McMahon / Helmsley Era. So my point is that Big Show had no hope as world Champion because everything underneath him was just so chaotic. Plus, his booking had been stop / start so much during 1999. There was also a lot of heat on him backstage which Big Show and Undertaker have both acknowledged. They wanted to push him but Big Show made it difficult. So by the time he had the belt, everything beneath him was chaotic but also he wasn't himself in the best place he would be. A legitimate world Champion and superb big man wrestler, lovely guy and a true legend but wrong timing both internally and externally, forced on by circumstances outside of his control.
