While I think his TNA run largely breaks even, I will always stand by his last match with Ric Flair. I never thought I would see that kind of match involving the two of them, especially after Ric's comments showing he doesn't like hardcore matches. And he gave Mick the rub on the way out, too! It is a very good hardcore match and its historical nature elevates it to a great match.

Mick Foley! I have a Mick Foley toy figure collection! I am Mexican-American. YOU ARE GOD to me! I was one of the only Mexican-American Kid, my best friend was the only African-American in my school. WE both followed your career from the Cactus Jack in wcw, ecw, wwf, wwe, and then tna. I remember I cheered so hard when you appeared on the daily show with jon stewart protecting that kid! My first name is Jack, I am a teacher in san antonio, my kid's took the STAAR US History test on tuesday. I had them chanting, "WE ARE CACTUS (enter their name) ! AND WE ARE BACK!!!!!!!"

Not me, I have followed you since I was a young kid dropping my elbow off the couch onto my Warrior Wrestling Buddy! I got to meet you during your college speaking tour about when your second book was in paperback and a fan made you pumpkin cookies and you were scheduled for 30 minutes for autographs but you stayed there for hours in Northern Michigan until every single person met you! You said it was the first time you felt like you were coming out to a big match in a speaking event. We had signs and everything. I waited for 10 hours to save my front row seat.

Conrad Thompson doesn't get it, that tv back then was vastly differnet to what it is now. The days where TNA pulled better ratings, than AEW are not comparable with things like streaming and a whole different internet presence . Tv as a whole had a huge drop off, with very minor exceptions and measuring ratings as they where back then is not the smartest thing to do.
@LokiTricksterG Жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct and I kept thinking the same thing while they were having that discussion. Back in the day, episodes of Frasier and Friends would get 25 million viewers a week, but no show gets that amount these days. It's not because TV shows are less popular, it's because the method for watching them has changed.
@PierzStyx Жыл бұрын
@@LokiTricksterG They canceled WCW when it was still averaging 2.5 a week, a high enough rating that it would still be in the top 100 shows today, which is pretty high considering how many shows are on TV.

Real talk: Even when I wasn't into the stories, the only AEW shows I've ever purchased were the ones with Punk on them. I bought ALL OF THEM. Tattooed, not in my 20s, and unapologetic about it. The story by Grillo is my story. I'm not jacked, in decent shape, get compliments, but I've never wanted to be jacked. Some guys, I respect them and their reality and their hustle, but yeah. Watching Punk in the ring is like I'm on that journey with him. Forget the other shit that happened, that was after the fact. In the moment, it was the only story in wrestling. I never buy wrestling or UFC shows without that connection. WWE, I think, did the Network because people buy subscriptions. But they won't buy a show if that connection isn't there. Which might be WWE admitting that those 'superstars' don't actually connect to the audience. On the side, the only other book about TNA I'd read would be the chapter in Flair's autobiography.

On PPVs, i watch UFC all the time and never pay for a ppv, cause its the biggest waste ever. Get a businuess model that allows it on tv or espn+. Then u would have more veiwers and attract more advertisers. Ppvs in modern Era is unbelievably dumb it just takes advantage of the consumer.
