I recently discovered Joe. What a great artist. This tune reminds me of a Taoist tale about a farmer's luck, with this message that it's never fully known what's good or bad luck. The yin yang of life.

When I shared this song with a Chinese Philosophy professor friend, she said "Oh, that's a well known old Taoist parable!" I love Joe Crookston's transmission of this old wisdom, in folk song form! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_old_man_lost_his_horse

There are some who sing with a closed palette or an exaggerated drawl or a grumble - and you appreciate the uniqueness up to a point - but it's best to hear someone sing with true CLARITY! Like Joe!

I've been a big fan of Joe Crookston ever since being introduced to his music, which surprisingly was through Pandora a while back.
