I love Dr. Jordan's testimony at the end. Testimony is a choice, but it is a choice that makes sense and is sweet.

I'm a first time listener from Dubai. I really enjoyed your knowledge, perspectives and personal insights to Church history and the scriptures. The part in section 22 about dead works and not counseling the Lord really struck me. When we first started the 2 hour Sunday block and home centered church I was very angry. I am the only member in my family and I missed the extra hour of church and church member connections I only make at church. I felt the weekly readings were too small because my regular method of study was to read an Institute lesson per day. I was angry because I have no one with whom to discuss these little daily lessons. Each year I began to do less and less study, trapped by my anger, guilty of my feelings. My scripture study grinded to a near halt. This year I realized I have been trapped by my anger and guilt for the past two years and was not growing. Around Feb. of this year I decided to make it a subject of prayer, and earnest effort to follow the Come Follow Me program to the best of my ability. I decided to give over my dead works (my anger and stubbornness) and stop counseling God, but to seek counsel from Him. I started journaling for the first time in many years and answering the questions found in the lessons, record impressions as I read the scriptures and watch as many podcasts and videos as I could- some study everyday as the program suggests. I have been impressed that Heavenly Father knows me and my aloneness in the Gospel and has always accepted my heartfelt attempts to life the gospel to the best of my abilities and circumstances, magnifying them and strengthening me in the process. If I continue to strive, He will sanctify my efforts as he has done all my life. This week after starting with a prayer, and reading and answering the questions, I felt the Holy Spirit was my discussion partner. I felt answers inspired by and answering my prayers. God knows us and loves each of us perfectly, not because we are perfect, but because He is perfect, Keep up the good work, teaching and inspiring with your podcasts. God Bless you, Carol

Thank you, Sister Carol. My wife and I shed happy tears for your love that you shared with us through this experience. You have taught us at least three lessons that we needed this week. Thank you again. (My wife and I are spending our pandemic time in rural Montana about 35 miles west of our Kalispell third ward.) Have a blessed week and year, Sister Charlene & Brother Richard

My wife and I absolutely love these podcasts so thank you! We are both converts to the Church of Jesus Christ back in college and have both read the standard works many times, but listening to you and studying Come Follow Me this year, it seems like this is my first real exposure to Doctrine and Covenants!! Brother Smith, I really enjoy hearing your guests’ responses to your weekly final question about whether learning too much church history leads to apostasy. Thank you for giving each one the opportunity to address this topic. Thank you and Brother Bytheway both for these valuable Doctrine and Covenants study sessions.
