I don't think you should ever feel ashamed of putting your health first or feel guilty for not going vegan. Your health is the most important. Also, maybe you should check to see if you've got any vitamin deficiencies since that could attribute to how you're prone to getting dizzy. Or maybe you're not drinking enough water. anyway thanks for sharing and i hoped you enjoyed Tokyo.

The BL made you feel like a kid in a candy store with how excited you looked.😊 The food looked good its nice you got to hang with old friends sorry about your fainting spells. It's very good that you were with a friend wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you. I hope you find something that will ease or take the fainting spells away completely. Please have a safe and wonderful day I hope your jet lag is gone or leaving. I'm wishing you a brighter tomorrow!

I know how you feel about the health thing. I'm exactly the same :( I don't want to burden others and I know that they probably won't understand how bad I actually feel since I may look okay on the outside. It's better to just avoid those stressful situations as much as possible and not blame yourself:) that's what I've learned.

I'm sorry you got sick. I totally understand what you're talking about when you say you don't want to feel like a burden. I feels like that often, and I always feel guilt or shame for what I think of as "self-pity." I hate feeling useless and having people do things for me. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

I'm glad you came to the realization to be easier on yourself regarding as it really is a health thing that you're not at fault for and can't help. I've also experienced fainting spells at times, and would like to offer you a few tips I have learnt through experience (and in nursing) ^ ^! (I hope I don't come off as nagging or lecturing, and that these tips are useful!) Take your time when changing positions, especially when you're going from lying to sitting/getting up. At times if people switch positions too rapidly, the rush of blood can cause extreme dizziness. Just slowly sitting up, allowing yourself time to adjust (such as sitting in the spot for a minute or two before fully getting up) will allow your body to adjust. Also, it may sound like common sense, but remember to stay hydrated, especially when travelling or in humid places. You can lose a lot of fluid through sweating when it is hot and humid, and even when people are travelling they tend to be preoccupied with sightseeing and such that they may not drink as much water as they should be. If you are sweating a lot, you should be trying to drink above the daily recommended 2L a day, as you are essentially losing more fluid than usual. It can be annoying to search for and go to the bathroom a lot, but being dehydrated can throw off the balance of electrolytes in your body. That in turn can lead to feeling unwell and even dizziness. Lastly, try to keep some hard candies with you. When you're feeling dizzy or unwell, it may help to find a place to sit and have some fast acting sugar. When your body is under stress it can use up your glucose a lot quicker, and having some candy around may help alleviate some of the symptoms you feel. I would also suggest getting a blood test done once you're back home. Fainting spells can be caused by a variety of different things, including anemia (when on your period you lose blood and iron through that way, so I would suggest following up with a doctor to see if that may be the case). If you're anemic, it can be treated through supplements or diet (including plant based options). And if you are chronically anemic, I hear there are options where you can get a few iron infusions in order to increase your baseline iron to sufficient levels. (If you are chronically anemic, supplements alone may not be enough to raise your baseline iron levels, but through treatment options to increase your baseline, supplements then may be enough to maintain that new baseline).

I have a tip that can take a bit of pressure off your shoulders! I am prone to panic attacks when I'm in public so I have a note stuck inside my phone case with contact details, my personal details and a tiny explanation that I have this problem. I added this recently so I don't know how helpful it is but it definitely makes me feel less helpless when I can't breathe and I'm crying in public like a baby, because I can't really talk to strangers in that situation so showing them the note would probably help. Also if I ever feinted someone could find the note and call my mother since my phone is password protected. I'm not sure if this'll help you but I do know that sometimes you can get bracelets and tags for like your backpack and such too! :) It's just a security measure for if you're alone really. Hope this helps

I suffer with anaemia spells often (I have dehydrating meds for chronic IBS) and I used to pretend they were gone, even though I suffered often. I just didn't want to 'burden' others. It wasn't until my face turned blue and I almost fainted in the streets, that I decided to take it seriously. Other people only want to help you, because your friends and family love you! Never leave it until it's too late!

i totally get the fainting spells and feeling weak. Im the same way, if im standing for too long without moving or if im walking and its warmer than 20 Celsius outside, or if im doing anything that is physically exerting, theres a good chance i might faint. i get exhausted very easily and always feel like i cant keep up with everyone else 😥 but it's good to say "hey, i need a break" and not downplay how exhausted youre feeling. Take care of yourself, Mei! 💙💙💙

I am feeling (kind of) relieved right now because i do have that kind of fainting spells or just exhaustion that appears all of the sudden and I don't know what it is. I have missed several days and of school because I always felt dizzy and couldn't climb up stairs. I thought i wasn't allowed to be weak because nobody else had that kind of "attacks". I personally think it is related to my anxiety since school has been soooo stressful lately. Anyways I just wanted to thank you because i don't feel so bad about my "moments of weakness" anymore and i just admire you as a person in general! love

My sister has suffered with the same thing! She would get fainting spells on occasion and feel fatigue. We found out it she was anemic and instead if taking the prescription strength iron supplement, she started taking Unsulfured Black Strap Molasses and it helped her so much! You can find it at any health food store and it's inexpensive. Vegetables with very dark coloring like kale are also very rich in iron and can help too. I just thought I'd share a few inexpensive things to try because I know that dealing with an unknown illness can be hard

I get that too, trying not to make too much of a deal of how I'm feeling, but for me it's with social anxiety. I'll go out and since most people don't understand how social anxiety really is like, I'm afraid to tell them and burden them with it. But you're right when you say we have to look out for ourselves. This was a good reminder for me. ^_^ But I hope you feel better Mei!

re: the last little bit of this video: I totally get where you're coming from.. I have fainting spells as well that typically result in seizures, and when I went to Paris last month, near the last couple days of my trip I hadn't been feeling too well. But, since I felt bad or like it would be a burden, I kept quiet about it and ended up having a seizure in the line at security the day we were supposed to leave, which ended up causing me to have to stay an extra night all while feeling like shit, both mentally and physically. In the end, it caused more of a burden than talking about it wouldve, and now i know to speak up if I feel off, ESPECIALLY in a foreign country... I hope the rest of your trip is good!!

Mei, you have probably already done this so disregard me if you have. But please please please see a doctor and specialist about your fainting spells! I had fainting spells that were getting worse for a whole year when I was 18 and then I got diagnosed with an autoimmune vasculitis, and if I hadn't seen a doctor when I did, it's very likely I would have had a stroke :( . It'd be weird if you had the same illness (it's very rare but more common in women of Asian descent than the rest of the world), but if it's something you haven't had thoroughly checked out yet please do!! (I was gaslighted and told I had anxiety/stress headaches or anemia the first time I visited a doctor about it - I did have anemia but it was a symptom of a much more serious illness - coz I looked otherwise healthy so seek a few opinions if you haven't gotten any satisfactory answers and don't know why you're getting fainting spells and if they're not going away!!) 💖💖💖💖 wishing you love and good health! And never feel guilty about asking for help from others or not feeling well :)

I'm anemic since many years so I can understand the struggle, before knowing the problem I used to feel really bad, so weak and fainted as well several times . Sometimes people don't get that anemia is a real problem and they think u are just lazy or weak. Now I have to take iron pills everyday and I feel way better but as u said during period or very hot days the problem is real. Don't be scared to complain if u don't feel well coz it's fine , you have all the right , people will understand

please remember your health comes first mei!! about the vegan thing, it's probably best if you go to the doctor to ask if the fainting spells problem is directly impacted by your diet, and if it is, nutritionists can usually help you find any nutrient substitutes for things like meat and fish in different vegan foods. if you've had this issue for a while (like before you became pescatarian) it's probably related to something other than diet. either way, please take care of yourself & stay safe!! Japan looks lovely 💞

I went to the doctor about it and found out that i have neurocardiogenic syncope which is a p common fainting disorder and they advised me to carry water around w/ me and said that i need to eat more potato chips to make my blood pressure higher lol. idk if this could be what is happening to you, but i'm sorry that u get fainting spells ik they suck so much and i hope you feel better!!!!! 💞

I had the same problem with weakness when I was younger. For me it was a combination of orthostatic intolerance, iron deficiency and it turned out I also was a carrier for a relatively benign genetic blood disease that isn't entirely asymptomatic in its minor form and is common in southern China, where my mom's from. If it makes you feel better, mine has become less and less of an issue as I've gotten older; I've fainted or gotten close to fainting only a handful of times in the past few years (I'm 30 now) whereas before I was fainting every few week or so. Hopefully yours will get better too.
