I did the same thing with the JVC KW Z1000W ( same basic head unit). I have a Beryl MT-1300 travel router I use as a repeater with my Phones Hot Spot. I set the TTL on the router to 98 so the Hot Spot data on my phone acts like reg data. The Firestick is working great. I can hook up all the devices to the router instead of the phone.

Curious how you power the Beryl router, and did you have to SSH into the router to change the TTL?

A bit beyond my scope of know how, but something tells me this head unit can’t distinguish between 2 video outputs, keeping the head unit in navigation mode but 🤷‍♂️. Maybe someone smarter than me will chime in ha

Question. I have the same stereo n I installed my fire stick. It works fine when I’m connected to my home WiFi but after a couple mile miles my hotspot drops. Do I need to disconnect my CarPlay so my hotspot stays on? Plz help. I’m female and think some of these guys are giving me the run around

Hey man, been looking at stereos for my 17 tundra…so far between this and the Alpine but I noticed you have the dash cam but can you just use the receiver as your back cam monitor? I want to keep everything all the same, dash controls, factory satellite system etc….leaning towards this kenwood unit though. Looks nice and I love the big screen. Saw the Tesla phoenixaudo one and I really like that as well cause you can control your a/c, tpms and all that but a lot of bad reviews. Thanks for your time bud

What hdmi cable are you using I’m trying to mirror my iPhone. I have a hdmi and the lighting cable adapter and when I switch to hdmi source on the radio the screen just goes black. I’ve contacted Kenwood and they told me you can mirror your iPhone with this unit.

great video! i have the 1037s Kenwood, ran the hdmi cable to the back of the head unit and the female hdmi in place of the 12 socket in a 2019 tundra. connected the fire stick and power cable to a usb charger..... getting no signal on the hdmi input. also tried a different hdmi cable, invida shield and also tried ac power in place of dc....all come back no signal. is it a update issue with the Kenwood? wrong type of hdmi cables? are my settings not correct on the head unit? I'm at a loss.

Grab an extension cord and run it out to your truck. Plug the OEM Firestick power brick and cable and use THAT to power your Firestick just for testing. If this solves the problem, your USB power supply from your truck isn’t sufficient. This happened to me and it took a couple weeks for me to figure out the problem. New cig lighter power supply and small short cable solved the problem.

I had the same problem. Come to find out my hdmi cable was too big and was not connecting all the way in the slot, so I trimmed the hdmi end and it worked. Double check it, because I was certain it was something else. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I also have a couple machines (servers) that host media servers at home. They run Emby, which I’m most familiar with, but I suppose Plex or Jellyfin would also work. What exactly are you wanting a video on? How I have it setup? It would be quite the complex video, but I’d be glad to do it if it would help. I’d also have to figure out how to screen record my MacBook so I’m not holding the camera the whole time. I could probably research this and pull it off though. Mainly because I prefer the standalone setup wired to the headunit. Tethered meaning the fire stick is using my cellular hotspot for an internet connection.

Seems like the unit to get! The Pioneer seems laggy. This has a beautiful screen. Did you bypass the JBL crap or are you still using it in some way shape or form?

Definitely pleased with the head unit as a whole! So pleased I installed one in our Sequoia too…that being said, the Tundra didn’t have the JBL setup but the Sequoia did. I didn’t bypass anything except the parking brake wire so I can watch playoff hockey while wifey and I are in traffic 🤙🏻 kiddo uses it for road trips to watch movies too.

My dashcam doesn’t integrate into my head unit at all. I wanted that feature for sure, but I couldn’t figure out a way using the dash cam I bought. There’s literally no video outputs on it. Glad you got the parking wire situation sorted 🤙🏻 thanks for watching!

Hmm, I’d double check you’ve ran the park wire to a ground on the chassis of the head unit. Or just wire it to the ground wire. Mine works fine in drive.

How long does it take from ignition to music to boot up?

9 seconds until you hear music, 19 seconds if you don’t click the agree button to the disclaimer before you land on the home screen. But the music still starts at 9 seconds. If you click the agree button, you’re basically up and running in less than 10 seconds.

Crutchfield sent me out the 1057XR unit to exchange for the 1007XR, plus getting $300.00 back because I dont need the navigation, I can use my maps on my android. I’m can’t speak for the size in a Prius, but I’d assume it would be fine. Quite the stark difference in cab size between a Tundra and a Prius…but yea, I still love this head unit. Thanks for watching!

Mine worked directly plugged in, but that’s due to the in dash socket that I purchased that was a female HDMI.

It does not, the volume has to be adjusted on the head unit itself.

Hey, I’m doing well, thanks. Did you buy the connector from the Amazon link in the description? If not, you need to get a cable with a low profile connector, otherwise it won’t fit in the cage of the head unit. Thanks for watching!

Yes, if you run the green park brake wire to ground. I just grounded it to the head units frame.

Have you tried powering it with an extension cord that’s plugged into a wall outlet? Try this to troubleshoot, then you’ll know your power supply is insufficient. I believe you need at least 5V 1A.
