Please relax with the sectarianism, and don't you call your biological father that as well? Even Paul uses the title "father" for himself in 1 Corinthians 4:15: "For you may have countless instructors in Christ, but you don’t have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel." Matthew 23:9: "And call no man your father on the earth: for one is your Father, even he who is in heaven. If this verse is to be taken literally, then we can't use this title for our biological fathers, and Paul is teaching heresy or even blaspheming? Just these 2 conclusions/examples demonstrate it is not intended to be taken literally (like many other teachings of Christ). The same case can be demonstrated for "do not call anyone teacher", read 2 Timothy 1:11. It is ludicrous to insist this verse should be taken literally. Let's have some grace with one another, just like God has had with us.
