@Grubby just a hint, if you didn't know this already: To analyze YT videos or important plays in detail, you don't need to press play/pause really fast. You can first pause, and then hit (or , and .) keys to go forward or backward frame by frame.

What I think would be very helpful is for Pobelter to review one of his own Zoe games with you. Specifically a review, not a live game. That way he can go frame by frame and show you exactly what his mindset is during the game, and also show you what the concepts he is talking about ACTUALLY look like - rather than you imagining what he is explaining.

I think grubby is into the idea that "i always have to charge my Q to deal damage" Zoe's empowered AA is also lethal bro if you are trying to chip away HP specially if enemy is low. Long range Q only if enemy is CC'D or is not expecting you/fighting head on. Short range Q is okay if trading.

Often the best way to improve is to play on one position with one specific champ. This way you learn the "can & can'ts" the champ offers. Also you get more of a feeling when your windows for oppertunity open. Always fun to watch you play league. Dont get frustrated if games or strats sometimes dont work out the way you intended them :) best regards

Advanced relative to a new player. There's a lot of times where Pobelter starts talking about a specific Zoe mechanic or specific runes and Grubby just responds like "what does my W do again?" So I think Pobelter went back to basics after that happened a few times.

I had an issue where my saves and settings kept resetting cause they weren't found by the computer. Turns out that in my case, since I bought my computer in Japan, the file was named in Japanese characters and the game couldn't read the final destination to where I was supposed to save my files. Once I changed the files name into characters of the Latin alphabet, my computer could again read the file name and stopped resetting my saves/options. I hope this helps!

The Irelia videos are great but it shouldn't discourage anyone from playing the champ. What you have to keep in mind is that lower rank opponents are also slower and will give you more time, so you can get sick plays even if you're not as fast as the guy in the clips. I'm not very good but I've definitely had Irelia Moments anyway.

I love this, but I'd like to see a less advanced player coaching Grubby, to help him more with the basics. Pobelter and other pros are so into the game and know so much, that they dont even remember to teach you about the basics, because thats just second nature to them. For example when Pobelter was explaining Dark Harvest to Grubby, he forgot to explain that when you proc the rune on someone, you get a stack, that lasts forever, and makes the next time you proc the rune do a bit more damage, and it can stack infinitely. You get an indicator on the enemy champion when you can proc the rune, they get like a red fog on top of them. But like Pobelter said correctly, the rune kinda sucks on laners, because it doesn't scale that well and electrocute is just better overall.

Also, what I see is that grubby isnt really trying to maximize or learn and memorize like zoe w bubble or things like using q only thinking max range when its not gonna do anything when its used backwards, etc. Theres no clear goal. Seems he just wants to play for fun/ pve style. Dont think getting coached with that mindset isn't going anywhere. Idk its just because hes new/noob or something, but its just doesnt make snese to me. This sounds toxic, but thats just what i see as one person and I genuinely want to see him improve.
@discofieber

Exactly - No question that his coaches are some of the best in the world, but teaching super advanced stuff like wave management or how to trade in a specific matchup seems so backwards when hes missing some basics like minion aggro (or f.e. how Grubby didnt even knew in his last Vex coaching that her fear indicator is actually visible on her champion model ingame, and not only the cd number on his passive icon). I still like watching the content but cant help but think that a less skilled player hardcore backseating him and telling him what to do at any given moment would be more effective at his current state of knowledge than the pro player coachings - but I get that it wouldnt be as interesting to watch and that Grubby likes to figure out things his own way.

Exactly it's just way too early for him to get this type of coaching, in league champ interactions determine the gameplay most of the times so it's pointless to get advanced until you know all the basics. I guess it can't really hurt but the disconnect is evident

I notice something with multiple of these 'streamer coaches' grubby has gotten since he started exploring Lol and I wonder if this is a cultural thing in the LoL community 🤔: 1) They don't seem to have much of a concept of teaching newbies. I'm sure they are brilliant players that other experienced players can learn a lot from but nearly all of them keep slinging out terminology and concepts, referring to optimal maneuvers you'd make on a professional level etc. 2) They seem to nearly all but purely 'reprimanding' in their approach. I see very little of a 'I see the idea and X was correct but you should improve on Y' that's used in teaching but a lot of 'This was wrong! This was wrong! this was bad! That's not good!'. Their method seems to be purely to point out all the mistakes Grubby is making and show what they would have done in this very specific situation. Giving grubby lots of things to 'not do'. But barely any general idea of what he's already doing right and should keep doing. Maybe Grubby likes this. I'm just wondering since these themes keep coming up (the first guy who coached Grubby was the strongest in this). I'm not in the LoL community. Is this very aggressive (not in terms of personality just in the teaching style) and 'mistake focus' way of talking to other players a LoL thing or is that these particular streamers? 🤔🤔

It's because they're not coaches, coaches have an understanding of how to actually teach a player, adapting teaching methods for different students, whether new or experienced. Pobelter has the game knowledge and experience but coaching is a whole different skill.
@drakesacrum8445
@drakesacrum8445 8 ай бұрын
Because most of these aren't coaches and the ones that are only coach somewhat experience players who are hardstuck. The first guy for example was a coach for Pro-play he has almost no idea of how to teach someone who doesn't have all the basics down. Really good coach in advance stuff, not so much in the basics. They know how to play and they are really fucking good but they aren't teachers. League has some good popular coaches but these are really expensive, is not at all like Dota2 where coaches are an available resource.

Generally people won't get coached as a newbie in game, so those coaching style isn't really tailored to grubby in this case. So I think it's not "coach being 'mistake' focused, not encouraging the right moves", for people familiar enough to the game, there's plenty of coaches that do encourage good moves, it's just that Grubby is still too new to the game to make moves that even make sense to the coach.

I disagree that knowing your spacing and capitalizing on enemy mistakes is the main complexity of League. It's honestly just pure muscle memory. After you play out the same matchup enough times you'll just know when they're in your threat range and punish without thinking about it.

Why make the excuse that you don't know what orianna does as if that exonerates you? Either 1: ask what orianna does so you can better understand what it is that you're trying to dodge, how to improve, etc. or 2: say "sorry, I wasn't prepared well enough for the lesson and was busy asking you to teach me every hero ability, summoner spell, item, rune and meta. I'll go learn the literal bog standard basics of the game by playing the game for a couple of days and come back for some more effective coaching instead of wasting your time arguing with you when I literally self admittedly know nothing about the game whatsoever"

It is hard to see any serious progress currently while you are playing different champions every game. At one point you will figure out that champion mastery is extremely important in League, where each champion has unique power timings, trading patterns, ways to position in teamfights, etc. Pobelter coaching was probably the best so far, but for example one of the previous session was fully focused on when you are hitting next levels in the game and counting minions, which currently brings literally 0 value to you. You need to focus a lot more on basic stuff.

Feedback: acting defensive all the time makes you seem like an egomaniac. Let Pob talk, he doesn't need every mental reason why you fucked up. He's telling you that your runes are wrong (which you should already know, 99.95% of league players above silver have figured out what runes that their heroes should play, or are in the ballpark. You don't even know what they do.) He likely thinks that you have premeditated most of your decisions prior to asking a PROFESSIONAL PLAYER for coaching. Either way, whoever is in the right or in the wrong, defending yourself by saying "I WAS ACTUALLY BEING POLITE AND DIDN'T ASK BUT IT WASNT DISCUSSED SO IT ACTUALLY WASN'T MENTALL YM FAULT AND ACTUALLY- nobody caaaaares. Just say "ok I'll take electrocute/aery next time". Boom, 1 second affirmation and move on.

12:08, I've seen enough at this point. Again, deflecting away from the fact that you have no idea what any items or spells do, you say Pob didn't tell you what her passive does fast enough. it's your job to know what your hero does before asking a professional mid laner to coach you. Absolutely insulting behavior. If I were Pob, I'd think "man, this guy really doesn't respect my time or depth of knowledge of the game at all. He literally wants me to read his abilities for him."

To give some feedback, I get getting coached by pros and stuff but it's a little cringe when you literally don't know the names of basic things like runes, or don't even know hero abilities. You could get a literal silver ranked player to tell you basic optimal rune setups, but even further you're asking him what they even DO. Learning runes and hero abilities, common ability names, etc. can all come before getting coached by someone who likely hasn't thought about the new player experience in over 15 years. It ruins the experience as a viewer and is insulting to pobelter whose knowledge is being squandered. Imagine getting lectured by stephen hawking and the entire time you keep asking questions about high school level algebra homework problems. It's embarrassing.

Bro, I get what you're saying and it would make sense for a random dude off the street with aspirations to be a pro hiring a pro coach, but this is not that serious - it's just fun content. It's a pro from one game (WC3) getting coached in a game he's new at by a pro here with Pobelter. Your analogy with Stephen Hawking is completely unfair because it assumes a lack of mutual respect. It'd be more like Charles Darwin (biologist) getting taught Physics by Stephen Hawking, he'd be fine to ask high school level algebra problems, there's no aspirations to be a hardcore physicist, it's all in good fun, and there's mutual respect for the disciplines. I think Pob reached out to Grubby first to do content together too, so... if you can't enjoy it maybe the vids aren't for you and that's cool.
