I’m so filled with gratitude for these podcasts. I’ve been a member all my life, but I’ve felt such a spirit of conversion while reading the New Testament, studying the Book of Mormon and diligently listening to the ideas and discussions of the podcasts. My prayers have changed with this increased learning. Thank you, thank you.

Oh my goodness!!! I've just finished watching for a third time! I love all your presenters. Matt is new to me and I've been around awhile...I'm 75. Matt Townsend's learning and application of that learning to our view of life, relationships and especially our relationship with the Savior and how we view our growth through Him and toward Him has just blown me away! A whole different pair of lenses, from the light/original side. Not the dark/fallen-world side. Our ideal is there to strive for and our Savior's love gets us through the dark side stuff we will all, by necessity, need to muck through in this life. I think I may have to listen a few more times. It's a lot of learning. Thank you!!!

I haven't had a very high opinion of psychologist, or counselors in the past. The reason I think was given in today's lesson. God was not first. In some cases He wasn't even allowed in the room. This was brilliant! Thank you!

Please have him on again! I loved his insights and connections between scripture and behavioral science. I especially liked his various models of teaching the plan of salvation with emphasis on the last one…which felt so right to me. If we loved God and our brother deeply in premortal life, the comm to do so in mortality seems logical…

What lack I yet? That’s a scary question, but as I listened, I realized I don’t know my identity. It used to be “Jason’s wife”. After he passed I became “Jason’s widow”. Now I’m working for the first time in 20+ years, in a new home, a new ward, and nobody here knew Jason. So now I’m just Stacy. But who is that? That’s what I’m finding out all over again. I think I’m my case, my lack of identity may be what I lack at this moment. I have to find out who I am beyond wife and widow. That feels as scary as having to give up my previous identity, excepting the sorrow and hurt. Finding myself, I hope, will bring enlightenment and joy to my life once again. ❤

I loved this podcast! Thank you for the amazing connection that you made with paradoxes. After listening I left feeling afraid to ask God what lack I yet? As I studied this morning, I found this quote by Larry R. Lawrence, Oct. 2015 General Conference The Holy Ghost doesn’t tell us to improve everything at once. If He did, we would become discouraged and give up. The Spirit works with us at our own speed, one step at a time, or as the Lord has taught, “line upon line, precept upon precept, … and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, … for unto him that receiveth I will give more.” This has been my experience. He never overwhelms me.

So grateful for Elder Lawrence's talk. I really loved it and learned a lot about how to approach the Lord and ask what I lack and can strive to work on in my life.

Loved the idea of the Laborers in the Vineyard being divided by dispensations! As a lifelong member I always thought I'd myself as a first hour, brings totally different meaning to think of myself as 11th hour. How much I owe to those who have gone before. Also Mark Jesus beholding him, loved him. You could add this line to every interaction Jesus has with anyone: woman with issue of blood, woman taken in adultery, men accusing her of adultery, and all the interactions I have with the Savior.

I am thinking that the laborers could be thankful for the additional help they were given to accomplish the job. And grateful that the master sought to offer more help in the task. The ones who came in the last hour had been waiting all day for some one to employ them but had yet received the offer. Receiving the offer when they did not knowing what the reward to them would be. They still accepted small job of being able to labor for the day. It is amazing that this short parable can teach so much.

I have often used this parable to point out the additional benefits the early hires received. Yes, they all received the same pay at the end of the day, but those who worked in the morning and throughout the day had the added blessing of working side by side with the lord of vinyard. They were able to hear him, see him teach and work, building men and reaping the harvest. Those early hires received far more then a daily wage.

I’ve been thinking about the rich young ruler’s question in relation to the wonderful story of the creation of “I Am a Child of God”. The original version by Naomi Ward Randall used teach me all that I must KNOW. If I remember correctly, President Kimball suggested the change to “teach me all that I must DO” that we sing today. Several years ago, one of the Apostles said that we really should sing/think teach me all that I must BE. (I can’t remember who said it.) I like this progression. We must first KNOW to be able to DO. By doing we then BE(come) what our Father in Heaven-and hopefully ourselves-want us to be. The rich young ruler was all about the DO part. I think his KNOW part was still a little earthbound. From his initial turning away it appears that his BE part needed some work. I hope he figured it out by his own free will in the end.

My journey draws me to focus on … GOD’S LOVE FOR ME… in That Holy Space, Everything else begins to fall into place, into proper perspective… A hyper vigilant focus on loving others-or even God- falls short of sustaining peace and healthy growth for me. I am “graven” upon His Hands… my “walls” are completely “Seen” by Jesus…and they are NOT a problem for Him. His Perfect Love for me …. can Not be “overcome.” (See Isaiah 49:15-16 & lyrics to “Forever” )

Salvation is not a zero-sum game. There's plenty to go around. And though the analogy ends with a cash payment, the true wage is admission into God's kingdom. There, our pace of progression will likely be determined by how much we prepared ourselves in the "day" of our probation, whether we were permitted to work in the vineyard for a mere hour, or from sunrise to sunset.
@debbygonzalez892 Жыл бұрын
Those who had been working all day we're likely tired and maybe becoming less productive. That may have been why the owner of the vineyard went to find more people to help. Those who had been working all day should have been thankful for the extra hands at that point.

The parable of the workers, I don't agree with what you are saying that everyone got the same wage and some worked an hour and some worked all day but they get equal pay, being a previous Relief Society President and having to deal with people who received a food order. I saw people who expected the free food and never worked a day in their life. I learned that there is a fine line between being Christlike and enabling the priceless beggars. Lots of people take advantage of the church because they think they are rich and the members are gullible.
