I was once a preschool teacher years ago. There’s nothing wrong with changing what makes less stress on you. Children acclimate, but if you’re having that inner feeling that it’s not right for you and your family, it’s always best to trust that feeling. Lean on the Lord and He will direct your path. I’m glad to hear you were able to maintain your spots at their school!❤

Maybe not putting your young children in daycare in the first place would be the answer. They need their mother not daycare workers looking after them

Amanda, I went through the same thing with alcohol. I eventually gave it up, as did my husband. Even if I only drank a small amount, I still struggled with anxiety and depression throughout the week. It just wasn’t worth it anymore. I haven’t drank in so long and I don’t ever miss it. I’ve learned to enjoy a mocktail or iced coffee/smoothie when others are drinking. Life is so much better. ❤

I love this and that’s awesome!!! I’m exactly the same way! One or two drinks was not worth the aftermath. I’ve stopped drinking and still kept going out with friends having mocktails and such and I’m so happy waking up feeling great the next day ♥️♥️

Daycare while juggling a full time job is one of the most stressful aspects of early childhood parenting, in my opinion. I had some great ones and not so great experience with my children, so I can empathize with you. You're such a great mom and you're doing your best. Hugs!

It feels wild, I was just thinking about you (as if we’re old friends) while making lunch, and how I haven’t noticed a video from you last week. Minutes later the notification for this one pops up, and I FEEL you. One of the reasons I love your channel is due to the crazy amounts of things I relate to you on, including thriving on routine. Even the best routines are sometimes not enough to keep the heavy things at bay. I admire your openness and ability to process and learn from experiences. You are an amazing mother, especially in this situation. A lot of parents would not have listened to their intuition and allowed a negative circumstance to play out even further. But also, YOU as an individual are amazing and deserve just as much grace as you give to others. ❤

I completely understand where you’re coming from. You’re not selfish, nor a bad mom. You clearly had a need (more time in the morning, less stress during commute time) and were looking into options to fulfill it. As the working mom, add in work from home, we subconsciously pick up more than the partner who’s not at home as often. It’s the self sacrificing that we do automatically. I’m glad your husband got to see first hand how important it is also for him that they remain in that daycare and pray he is now more willing to make more sacrifices on his end to help support you. Choosing the new daycare still required effort on your part as you were going to continue to be the one taking them. Just an observation based on what you vulnerably shared. It’s not the matter of daycare but the support you need mama. Sending you lots of love and peace.

Hello Amanda! This is my first comment on KZbin. And i really, really watched a lot of KZbin the last years. 😀 I‘m from bavaria in germany and my english is absolutly horrible. 😅 But after all this maybe thousands of different videos i watched on this platform, it‘s the first time i really have something to say. Your a good mum!!! You don‘t have to be a better mum. Everyone (your kids, your husband and you and the rest of the people on earth) have the right to learn every day. And that is what happened. You learned and thats absolutly okay. We mummies often thing we have to do everything super good. I‘m a mum of two doughters (2,5 years and 9 months) since february this year i am back at my work for 2,5 days a week for the moment. And i can understand your situation so so good. Your inspiring me for a long time. And wen it’s hart, you give me often power to keep on going with all (work, home, kids, being also a women). So thank you! And please be good to you! Everything is okay!

We always think grass is greener on the other side and most of the time It's not. You are a warrior mom, a loving and caring mom who want the best for your children. Believe me when I say , we as moms all go through it. It means the world that you share your feelings with us bc it lets us know we aren't alone !!! You've got this !

I am so happy that you acknowledge your kids’ feelings. That alone says that you are a good mother! I remember I was crying hysterically on my first day of daycare and wouldn’t go in no matter how my dad was dragging me in lol. Thankfully my mom also acknowledged my feelings and didn’t send me into daycare but waited for a year. Sending you hugs! You are doing such an amazing job and you have always been an inspiration for me.

I can understand how hard this was for you! However, one day isn't enough time to see if Quinn would adjust. It could take a few weeks. Its normal for kids to not adapt well the first few to several days. To make a fair judgement, I would have given it more time and not base a big decision like this based on emotions alone! Think about this: if everyone who had a first rough day left after one day, they would never know if things would get better. First days at a new location, generally are very emotional. Like you said in the blog; Kids are resiliant and will most likely adjust to most situations over time! Just know, you are not a bad mom!

Fair points, but have to go with your mommy intuition. If it doesn’t feel right, listen to your heart. God forbid, should something tragically happen, imagine the (undue) guilt she would feel 💔

I can’t handle alcohol either Amanda I’m the exact same way and a lot of people don’t understand and think I’m weird for not drinking but they don’t know how I feel when I do. And to me it’s not worth it. Your well being in your mind body and soul is priority and if drinking is not benefiting you at all and making you feel worse it’s not worth it!!! Even my husband will pick on me sometimes for not having a drink with anyone else but I don’t care. I have a better time sober as strange as that may sound to some. You do what’s right for you Amanda!❤☀️

We all make decisions with the best intentions as mothers, that sometimes can unfortunately end up being the wrong ones. But how else can we learn and grow unless we have good and bad experiences!? In this case, I don’t think you were being selfish at all. Taking some pressure and stress off you is completely valid as a working mum. Please don’t forget that you are also important and your feelings matter❤ The number one takeaway for me from ALL your videos - is your kids are happy and loved, it shows through the screen😘 you are doing amazing & I’m sending you big a virtual hug from Australia 🥰 Ps removing alcohol from your life will improve every aspect of it. Thank you for sharing this story. I'm a full time working mom of one and she's 20 months. We've had a nanny since she was 4 months old & since I work from home, I get to see her a bunch. I know she's going to benefit from social interactions soon and have been looking into the different types of care options we'll have as she turns 2 or 3. I live in the middle of nowhere with very little options. The closest area with nice schools is 40 minutes away. I've been trying to decide if a commute is worth it. When you mentioned switching schools for convenience, I was questioning if I should consider a 40 minute commute every day. I don't know what I'm going to do but I just LOVE hearing your raw truth with the situation because it's reminding me that what matters is that SHE'S comfortable and also, it's okay if I mess it up. We can always try again. Your kids will learn from you advocating for them when you realize you've made a mistake. Great job mama.

You are doing an amazing job Amanda! ❤Truly you are a great mother. Mom guilt can be debilitating. It causes me such anxiety. I work from home with my 2 year old. It’s 4-10 hr shirts per week. And the days I have to juggle work and my daughter when my husband is working, it’s all I can do not to pull my hair out. I feel guilty for being short with her and not being able to spend the 1:1 time she deserves on this days. I know it’s not the exact same situation but I just want you know that I understand the anxiety and worry and guilt that encompasses different decisions in parenthood. You are not alone and I love your channel. Being a working mom and wife in 2024 is so hard. The pressure can be insurmountable to be perfect. But there is no such thing…we all are worthy of grace! 😇

AMANDA....I wish I could hug you right now. I am just crying with you as I type this. What a sweet, sweet mother you are... goodness. Please do not stop making videos where you share your feelings. This is my favorite one yet. Being a mother is hard, isn't it? The fact that you felt such guilt and pain from a decision you made that impacted your children (especially Quinn) shows how wonderful of a mother you are. Some mothers do not care, or do not care to the depths you do and that shows your loving heart for your children. I am in a similar situation where I work from home, but drive all over the place in the evenings to take my 4 year old daughter to all of her activities. Some are completely out of my way and I spend alot of time in the car, but as moms, we sacrifce "our time" for our children because we love them and want to do what is best for them. It is easy to complain and dread the drive (I do it too sometimes) but I think when Chase and Quinn look back on their childhood, they will remember how you made them FEEL and that is LOVED. They will remember when you put them first and when you sacrificed your time for them, and that is a blessing. You are a wonderful mother, Amanda and I hope you always know that! Loving tears and big hugs to you!

I really appreciate you sharing. I have been following you for about a year. Your videos helped me a lot as I transitioned my daughter to daycare which has been almost one year ago now. It’s so hard as a mom to navigate life with little kids and a job. Your videos are always comforting to me. Right now I’m going through a rough time with daycare too. I work at a hospital and my 2 year old daughter goes to the on-site hospital daycare. We absolutely love her daycare. But… In February we were notified by the hospital that they are closing our daycare later this year to make room for a new parking garage. I have spent so many hours in tears over this. I have toured so many other daycares. In looking at the other options, I have finally decided to take her to the other daycare center that’s affiliated with the one being closed. But this is far away so I’ll have to commute literally across town to a different hospital and back every day. Her teacher and lots of classmates are transitioning there together so it will be as close to no change for her as possible. Everyone is telling me not to do the commute but I don’t feel comfortable with changing her to something totally new when she has been doing so well. I appreciate your advice and it’s helpful to hear words of wisdom from another mom ❤

Thank you for sharing your feelings and emotions in this video. I cried along with you while watching. All you can do as a mom is your best - sometimes though we don't know what is "best" until we try it. I think many of us would have done the same in regards to looking for a daycare closer to home - makes totally sense. You tried it - realized it didn't work and fortunate to be able to go back to your kids old school. Try not to be so hard on yourself - you are a great mom! Ugh this made me emotional, I would have been a total wreck in this situation too 😭 It may have been a “selfish” choice to want to switch schools, but it is also true that the commute has been a big impact on your workday, and as the mama, your bandwidth and state of mind is so critical to your family. I think many of us working mamas would have wanted a daycare closer to home. That said, I’m so happy you all were able to get them back at their original daycare and make a choice that is right for your family ♥️ Maybe some of your drive time can be batched to feel more productive and less like a chunk of unusable time in your day, eg taking any work calls, listening to audiobooks or podcasts, catching up with friends or family over the phone, or even fun podcasts or books with the kids once they are in the car. Sending warm thoughts, you are a super mama 🙏🏾💪🏽

Thank you for your honesty and sharing your feelings because we as mothers feel that way too and is good to know we are not alone. Much love ❤🙏

Oh my goodness Amanda, wish I could give you a hug. You made me emotional. Please don’t ever apologize for your mother instincts , that’s a real feeling and you can’t feel bad for something you were trying to make your life easier, this is part of living. I think the reason you mostly felt bad it was because Chase was about to graduate and you kind of took that away, we moms always try to do what’s best for our kids and sometimes things don’t work out. You realize that and he will graduate with his friends until the next journey(please send us pictures when he graduates). You are a great mom and it’s ok to feel unsure sometimes. My oldest is 14 and sometimes I feel the same way. Thank you for opening up to us, but remember you are only human and it’s ok. Sending love your way ❤

Amanda, don’t beat yourself up too much or think you were being “selfish”. You do SO much for everyone else, put yourself last, and you just moved. Mom burn out is real and sometimes we just HAVE to change things in order to keep our sanity and to give our own bodies what they need so that we can continue to function in life and be there for all the people we have to be there for. You can’t pour from an empty cup! Love your videos and they have definitely helped me become a more calm and productive wife/mom. You have an amazing soul and you did NOTHING wrong 😢 we are about the same age, and I can’t imagine juggling my kids, working full time and putting all the hours weekly into making these videos. That is a massive load to handle. I couldn’t do it, so you’ve got my respect for sure!

I feel like hearing you speak about this is what the internet needs! I have felt that guilt especially since I changed my daughter 2 times! I moved out of town, then had to change that school because she got an infection and cried every morning that she did not like school. Then the second change was because I got a job elsewhere and the only options for us was to change her to where I would be working - I am a teacher. She had about 2 weeks of acclimating and it terrified me every step of the way. I felt the guilt too! So much! I could barely function in my class! Sigh, thank you for sharing!

From someone who is not a mom, I am so sorry you feel like you made the wrong decision to enrol them in a new school and that all of you had to suffer so much. What I remember from your other vlogs was the strain it put on you in the mornings to drive them to their daycare. And making a change for yourself to be less stressed would also mean you can be that much more present for your kids. It is so hard to ask for help for some of us and to accept it if it's offered so we look for solutions ourselves because that is what we know how to do. Be kind to yourself - you are so incredible at creating an amazing life for your kids!

Awe Amanda all your feelings are so real its extremely difficult for parents dropping kids off at childcare for the first time. We would tell parents that they can call whenever they want to ask how their child is doing. I worked for over 20 years in one and you get all kinds of kids reacting in different ways, crying and screaming is so normal but sometimes they will literally lay on the floor kicking and one time we had a child that took his clothes off, no kidding, its heart breaking but eventually they do settle and actually love where they are. My heart goes out to you, your so sad and emotional. You made a connection with your other teachers and grew to love them thats understandable. Your very lucky that your daycare had not filled your childrens spot. Happy that this has a good outcome. You will feel so much better now.

Amanda, I can't tell you how much we have in common! I'm also from New Jersey, 35 years old, mom of two little ones, living far away from all family (in the mid-west), and I work from home. My kids go to school twice a week but the school is 1.5 hours away and with traffic it takes 2 hours. I just work from a coffee shop on those days but that's still 4 hours on the road. I literally question myself every single week but I've been sticking with it because it seems best for them right now. Our other options are only 5 days a week and we want them home some days, since I have that flexibility. My husband and I also argue about this and he also invokes the rebuttal that he commutes everyday (though my other concern is that it's too far away for the kids to build community). Also, this video was just sooo relatable because my mother in law is also visiting right now! Mom life is tough! You love your kids so much and you are doing a great job, mama!

I totally get the stress of a commute. For years I worked across the street from where I lived. Then when I finally changed jobs it was 35 min one way and it took me a while to get used to it and I never really liked it. It’s hard to not miss that hour out of your day when your day is so hectic to begin with. I ended up having to put my son in day care in the morning and they would take him to school and then have him picked up from school by the day care because I couldn’t get there on time. Mom guilt is real! Especially since he had never been to day care. They do adjust but it’s so hard on our momma hearts 💕

I rarely make comments on KZbin, but felt compelled on this one. I'm in a similar situation in which we built our new home and moved further out. I had to make the hard decision to change my 4 year old son's daycare as well. Although I loved the teachers and staff, the commute just to get him to school one way was 40 minutes (during rush hour). The stress and long commute is wearing on me. Today, I actually put in the notice that he would be leaving. I felt sad, but also realized that the daycare he would be going to, those kids will likely move into kindergarten with my son and possibly through elementary school. But if I start to feel that "mothers intuition" I may rethink it as well. Blessings to you and your family!

I never post but this really hit home. You think saving some time is worth it sometimes but at the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you and the family.. I took my son out of his preschool he went to for months because I just didn’t felt right about it. My son did not like it and had issues there. He cried everyday I dropped him off and my husband was like “he doesn’t make the rules” and I said “yes you are right I make the rules” and. I looked at other school And had a discovery day at new school that I liked and my son cried cause I picked him up to early :) and that school has been amazing ever since and took care of little brother too who came a year later. Thank you for sharing!

Long story short: I went from being a full time working single mommy to a sahm w my second born BC it turns out my child has Autism. After MANY tries of school FAILURES and not getting proper support or diagnosis/help and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole (so to speak) it just wasn’t working for us. I also had so much guilt and frustration. It was an emotional rollercoaster and total sh$& show (as you said)! BUT we all learn on these journeys. I never would have seen myself not working. Talk about an ultimate sacrifice. lol and I knew/know A LOT of moms would LOVE the chance to be a sahm!!! I had to learn the hard way tho too! I’m sorry you all had to go thru this experience but that you ultimately decided on the best choice for your kids! 😊I am happy to report that things (at 15 y/o) are finally starting to settle and be supportive for us too. Hey Girlie, never think you're a bad mom for trying to do what you think would be beneficial for you and your family. I relate with all the feelings you went through! It wasn't a selfish idea to want to make things easier. Don't feel bad. If the kids had loved the transition then you guys would have made life way easier. They didn't and you fixed it. Sometimes it takes a situation like that to happen to help get perspective on what the right thing to do is. Not that either was right or wrong but you wanted to do the right thing for your family and now you know you are! Alcohol has the same effect on me now that I’m older so Im staying away from it . And I gotta say good for you for doing whats best for your family its very hard when you see your child upset so absolutely their well being and happiness always comes first.❤️
