During the 1970's the "Cradle of Mankind" used to be Kenya for the oldest fossils of mankind were found around Lake Turkana in Kenya until when they found even older fossils at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania. Currently, the oldest fossils were found in Ethiopia. The bottom line is that the "Great Rift Valley" of East Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania) is in fact the "Cradle of Mankind" because all these three sites and many others of great find are located there.
