OK- to answer all these questions... If you go back and watch the installation videos you would see that the wall is holding aback about 40 TONS of gravel and rock. I take the wall out and everything slides to the swimming area. Also - the plants that help keep the water crystal clear stay outside the wall and you swim inside the wall. Hope that helps. Oh. And the wall will not rot. To rot you need oxygen and there is not enough under water. Plus the wood is white oak which is very resistant to rot. (And very very heavy!) And about the Natural part. It is called a natural swimming pool because we use nature to keep it clear not chemicals. (I didn't name it - there are lots of different ways to do it!) Finally - the chance of snakes is quite small. They would much rather be down in the lake where it is quiet! Thanks for all the comments and so sorry we can't answer every one!

Wow! When i was little my parents built a swimming pond 1/4 of the size... they added a wooden deck and had fish and water lillys. We were able to enjoy the water and they enjoyed coffee on the deck. It was a dream! My dad passed away a few years ago and when this came up it made me cry so hard! What a special time to build this together AND enjoy! It looks incredible in every way!!!! 🎉

Ok. Here's my two cents on the wall. First off, this pool is still in it's early stages. The wall is to indicate where the actual pool is and it's a fun place to jump from considering the deepest point is the center. Notice the two fellas didn't swim outside the wall, they were inside the wall, that's the pool. Which leads to me to think that their intention is have aquatic plants fill in that space around the wall which will create a more natural "pond" like setting in time. Whatever it is, the entire thing is wicked cool and it looks fantastic!

Wood rots from repeatedly getting wet, then dry. If certain wood stays wet it'll never rot. Have you ever seen the show swap loggers? The logs they recover diving in a river have been under that water for HUNDRED of years and is in pristine condition 🤷♂️

This is the way i see it, beautiful, well done, and practical!! So much comments on regarding the wood used, there a local saw that purchased reclaimed pine logs that have been submerged for over 100 year! Once they are mill and dry they produce some of the best wood solid for cabinets and furniture i have ever seen! And not only are they acting as retaining walls that hold rocks in place they also provides filtering for the water naturally. Sure there different ways this project could have been done but it fair to say that this project is done in a way that sense to him and me! Well done my friend!!

The wood wall will last longer than any of us will or our grandkids and their grandkids and so on. A lot of furniture was made by wood that was submerged underwater for over 100 + years.
@vladrtm5 ай бұрын
that is correct. Just never leave the wood outside the water line - that is to be read, don't dry out the pool as exposed wood that has been submerged will fall into pieces fast :)
@nicolekastner7607 Жыл бұрын
Knowing nothing about pool building, I am curious what is the point if the wooden wall? Would your pool have worked without that? Is it something structurally necessary?
@russellargo58 Жыл бұрын
i think if you swim at the middle and you're tired and knowing that the center is deep, you have a wall nearby that you can hold on to or sit there to regain your strength. something like that
@DFlash2012 Жыл бұрын
i build regular home pools, the walls in my opinion are like a retaining wall for all the rocks they put, and probably so people can get in and out by knowing where the swimmable spots are. if it was me i would do without the walls, still pretty cool.

I'm not a pool expert by I think putting wood in the water was a bad idea and I think keeping some of those trees so close will be a pain in the butt when trying to keep the pool clean.
