This is the best rendition of Folsom Prison Blues I have heard. The guitar with the walking base lines makes the song.

I was born in 1962, raised in South America, my family emigrated to the Netherlands, when i was 12 i bought my first cassetteplayer in 1974, the 70's music was fine but when i first heard Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones , Johnny Cash, ohhh man....the rhythm, melody, the lyrics..all that music is now on USB in my super modern hybrid car...ever seen a Hindu guy ,now 58 years old, singing along with Johnny Cash, windows down , cruising in EV mode....well some types of music will outlive all of us....keep doing this Woody!

I first heard you last summer at the Last Chance Saloon in Millington. My jaw dropped when you hopped on that hay rack and started to sing. I wasn't expecting such talent at a local bar.

You're from Illinois? So am I! Proud to be in a place with talented singers. (I can't play or sing, but I can certainly listen!) I loved Johnny Cash since the 70's. (Folsom prison Album)

You should have timed the song with Otto's little train whistle. That would have been a hoot.
@ya_local_band_nerd88594 жыл бұрын
It’s not “but that people keep a rollin on down the line”, it’s “when I hear that whistle blowin I hang my head and cry”. And the electric guitarist did not play the second half of the solo part right
@dekelanson52804 жыл бұрын
When people play Folsom Prison Blues,( or any song, for that matter) there's no law saying you have to play solos exactly like the record. There's nothing wrong with adding your own touch.
@ya_local_band_nerd88594 жыл бұрын
@@dekelanson5280 I apologize if that was offensive but as a fan of Johnny cash and it’s a pet peeve when I hear his songs played wrong it makes me mad

Woody is still around! He is 1/2 of Carolina Pine, a male/female duo in Nashville. The female half is Kennedy Fitzsimmons, and they are sick with talent! In the months right before covid, they were opening for Alan Jackson on his tour. It was a years-long dream of Woody's to do that, and Alan asked them to do it, after they came in second place in a contest to do so. The plan is to resume touring with Alan when he gets back to it. Covid also meant they had to cancel their own tour in Europe. It is so frustrating for us to see this delay in their career, but true talent wins out in the end! There are links under this video I posted of them on my channel! kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3jSmId6oc-Ne9E
