This was instantly one of my favorites, I appreciate the instinct to play this one more straight and not reinvent the song, but to freshen it up and give it that Geoff touch. Please consider "Johnny Cash covers" to be my standing request. You can do as many of them as you like! One of my favorite things about this video was the details and nods to Johnny Cash. Imagination and optimism: That's what Geoff has managed to capture here, somehow, in a song about prison. It starts out sweet and plaintive, and sometimes it's kinda sad, but the whole time these guys are looking forward to the future bright-eyed and excited about what they'll do "If they freed me from this prison / if that railroad train was mine!" They've got a bright future ahead of them, and they're just champing at the bit to start living it! 💙

This song in particular reminds me of an old resident I used to clean rooms for at my work. His name was Ellis. Ellis was a perfect addition to the home, the sound of his harmonica echoing throughout the halls with many Johnny Cash tunes in his arsenal. I asked him how he learned to play and he said, "Once I lost the use of my legs, I knew I still had my hands as well as my voice." So he learned how that way, keeping his hands aand mind busy as he continued to play his way into my heart and of those he touched. He asked me to sing with him multiple times and each time we did, was a moment that I will always remember for as long as I live. Just sitting down with this man, almost made me feel like I was sitting down with Johnny. The sheer joy he had playing for everybody and anybody, makes my heart smile. We lost him last year and it's people like Geoff, who pay homage to the greats that keeps the memory and the music alive. Bravo! Geoff. Bravo!

I happened upon this music video during my lunchtime, you see I was in a rather dour mood after having all the drains in the deli, where I work, so when I started this video I didn’t know what I was in for. I just knew it was going to be good because, well It’s Geoff Castellucci and we all know how awesome he is at arranging his pieces. Oh I was so not wasn’t ready to listen to this work of art. This piece just seemed different from the rest he’s done in the past. So full of Easter eggs and I’ll admit it…candy too, but what had me reeling was the richness of his voice. This music video and arrangement, good sir, has been your best one yet. Many have compared Geoff’s voice to a fine wine, aged well and matured, but I’d have to say when I listen to Geoff’s voice I think of a sun setting….oh the layers, it’s so vivid I almost see colors. There’s a richness in his tenor range that is so full and sweet it reminds me of the vibrant colors cast upon the clouds whereas his deeper bass register is like the rich deep colors you find in between the clouds that you can’t help but be in awe of….everything works in harmony, the deepness reinforces his higher range. Oh how I love the intricacy of this arrangement, a new favorite of mine….now don’t mind me, but I have a sudden urge to go paint a sunset for some reason.

Your voice fits the song perfectly and you surprised me from the first line on - how brilliant is it to slow down the beginning on ‘and time keeps draggin’ on’! I love the little details (including easter-eggs) to differentiate the different characters and expecially Jeff’s attitude! My two favorite moments are you playing the harp and your little run on ‘whoa’ in ‘…better movin’ on a little further down the line, whoa’ I’m supremely amazed by your and Kathy’s commitment to book an actual prison (with no AC) and even let yourself be locked in a cell! Thank you also for all the visual goodies you included (hello 💪💪💪 !)

Oh wow!❤🔥🌋 I was hoping so hard that you'd sing Folsom Prison Blues. I love Johnny Cash, especially this song, very especially the Reno line (got it on a t-shirt and many are confused 😂) AND I love Geoff Castellucci as an artist! The combination couldn't be better. Johnny Cash wrote the song in 1953 while stationed in Germany serving in the Air Force. Regarding the video: it is illegal to appear so handsome four times. You start straight away with push-ups. And end up clapping between pushups. I am full of envy and love 😅. but since I've been getting testosterone as a substitution, I've been working on it and getting better and better. My voice also fits more and more to your songs, which makes me so happy! I sing "with" you every day. This helps me so much to keep my voice gender dysphoria in check. I used to have to put a capo on the first fred for Johnny's songs, now I can do without. Nothing, really nothing calms and grounds me more than reaching notes when singing "with" you. Of course Folsom Prison is immediately on my best playlist named "Castellucci 🔥". Geoff, a thousand thanks for this joy that you bring to so many people with your music and personality! You enrich my life and increase my quality of life, which is sometimes not so good (cause I'm a creep and weirdo, you know).

❤ You are not a creep or a weirdo (even though many of us identify with VoicePlay's latest). You are a unique human being who deserves the best. Would love to hear you sing one day, and I wish you good fortune on your journey.

Woo! I know I must have already said that, but your covers only ever grow better, Geoff. At the beginning, I thought this one was going to be slower than the original, which wouldn't have been a bad thing anyway, but then the real tempo kicked in and I knew, yep. Yep, this one takes it another two steps up. This way it's like the train can really be heard in the background and it's awesome. Mad respect, there, all the crazy that comes from working with four voices like that must be even more difficult when the song goes quick.

That was wonderful Geoff, thank you! I have to say, Daryl looked more like a hardened criminal than the rest of you. That was quite the "Don't mess with me" look and swagger he had. The code details on the shirts were ingenious, I can't fathom how you come up with such subtle yet very satisfying details. I'm also in awe of your wonderful gift of knowing just what a song needs, something new with quite the spin or in this case, staying more true to the original with only subtle changes. Loved it! 😀💜

My husband just told me, Geoff needs to do a Blues Brothers song. After finding out that he learned harmonica for a Blues Brothers show at Universal Studios, now we REAAAALLLLY want to see that! Imagine "Sweet Home Chicago" or "Gimme Some Lovin'" sung by the Geoffettes. Or a Blues Brothers mashup. The epitome of COOL.
