I'm a guy, and found this really helpful. I'd never considered the clips on my holsters, I just assumed that whatever was there was the only option. I'm going to order a holster today that has the Monoblock as a no-cost option. Now I know that if it doesn't work, I have options. P.S. I follow you to get information for my wife; she doesn't have a lot of interest in handguns, but does own two. I never considered myself part of your target audience, but I now realize that your target audience isn't limited to women. Thanks for your work.

Good review. I enjoy the content, and as a cop and a husband it’s a nice perspective on gear in this video like the one that was on the blue alpha belts. Especially from the female point of view. I know my wife enjoys shooting and carrying for self defense, but also know there are different considerations that come into play based on attire. Primary and Secondary had a great discussion on concealment a few weeks back that made good points that gender and body types didn’t affect holster so much in concealment, but never really addressed the “clip” issue. I have to agree that the DCC option is the best in low profile. I wish I could pick Craig Douglas brain as to which one between pull dot and DCC hold up better in a scrap. I believe Tenicor and DCC built a enclosed belt loop holster to his specs though.

I watched this video like 10 times before I ordered my dcc clips, currently using the rcs clips. Installed the dcc clips and I will say, very strong, very good quality, very nice design. I personally still went back to the rcs clips after about a week of use. The dcc clips are on there way to fraying my kore essentials belt (amazing quality gun belt). The lower portion of the clip that is used to “grab” the belt digs into the pants, which over time will puncture. Also, they are no easy task to put on and remove. Which is also not made any more pleasant by the use of a concealment claw, I use the mod 4 wing. The tips of my fingers are paying for it after just install in the morning, removal after the work day, and some training at night. I am also a mechanic, so my hands see there fair share of abuse during the day. I can handle quite a bit of “pain” in the hands for something beneficial, but the rcs clips are easy to put on, hold tight, and do the job perfectly. Just my 2c for the people on here who were looking to upgrade.

The DCC clips are absolutely the best clips in existence at the moment. The downside is that if you don't want to go through multiple pairs of jeans or leather belts you're going to have to secure them to a really stiff and abrasive resistant belt (I use Ciguera's Emissary EDC and 110% recommend them). They have the most retention of the holster to your body out of any method other than maybe closed belt loops with the added benefit of still being removable without taking off the belt. It's a pain in the ass to take them off but they will come off. My only complaint about that is that, again, they absolutely tear up leather belts and fabric and I can't and will not use them with my Hanks leather belts which I prefer comfort wise to the stiff webbed belts when going out. Hopefully they release a coated version or something that's not so hard on leather.

Another great video. I am going down this crazy rabbit hole trying to find the most comfortable holster. Little did I realize that it is not just the holster, but the clips and the wing that are just as important. While I love the DCC clips for retention, they are a beast to get on and off… I just received a new LAS holster and am going to try it with the ‘Pull the Dots’ and see what I think. An evening of dry fire tonight and they held up great. Thanks for the content!!

@@JamesSullivan-ru4op Whatever you need to appease your conscience. I, the maker of this video, and most sane people know plastic is worst then metal for durability and retention, I don't even know why this is a debating point for you. Needless to say I have yet to see a single plastic clip that holds a holster in place and doesn't come out with some force applied, not to mention they break easier. You are right, in case it wasn't clear: I don't use them. But manufacturers insist on them because they are cheap and people think they work just the same. WeThePeople make some decent generic holsters, but their insistence on plastic clips was one reason I don't buy from them.
@Renaldo1353 жыл бұрын
Excellent review. I hate Fomi clips also and for my holsters with the Fomi clip where the holes are high up like that I replace them with soft loops which are the best. The only other option is to drill holes in the front of your holster which I do also for a LARGE not small Ulticlip or a strut clip or a steel spring clip like Vedder uses. Another option is to get larger rubber gromets and take out your retention screw and get a strut clip or order a Bravo Concealment clip. If you put a strut clip where your retention screw is it also carries really comfortable . The problem with FABRI clips are they only work really on material" and again you have to drill holes in the front of your holster but they are excellent if you either wear a belt over them or you carry a very small firearm like a .380 or a Lightweight revolver. Any other gun including a P365 will topple over while you wear it most of the time. FABRI clips are awesome also to use to clip into a bag that has a pouch or pocket on the inside. Fabri clips are also great to use for a belly band or any material really. I use ulti-clips more for fixed blade knives than guns. Also you need to wear a gun belt and not a regular belt if you plan on carrying a firearm, sorry. I recommend KORE ESSENTIALS specific gun belts. They are awesome track belts that you can loosen and tighten in increments instead of inches. There is no better belt to carry a gun with than a track type belt for quick adjustment like when you sit in your vehicle then get out.

So, because it is so much used by the holster manufacturing companies and because many people are using it in a wrong way, you consider the FOMI clip garbage. That's a very valid argument. The other about belts is just BS. It is obvious that if you want to carry in a safe manner you have to use a proper gun belt. The single valid issue you mentioned about the FOMI is that it is somehow bulky.
@tessahbooth3 жыл бұрын
The FOMI is a subpar clip, and this is something widely known within the gun community. Holster makers put it on their holsters because it is one of the least expensive clips available, that can also somewhat "pass" as a proper clip. When well made clips are extremely affordable, I don't see a reason to use this particular plastic clip. If you scroll through my channel you will see that a "proper gun belt" is not the only way to carry a gun responsibly :)

AMAZING video. Bravo. Little bit of feedback: 1. I think the UltiClip was the only one you showed with like a stress test on your pants with no belt (besides the first crappy one). You mentioned others being a better option even for when not wearing a belt. I think it would have been great for you to show 2-3 seconds of footage for those other ones you recommend even for having no belt. I personally use the UltiClips and love them for this exact reason. I’m 100% interested to try the other ones you think are better and would have liked to seen a visual of them being used that way. 2. I wear my UltiClips with a belt all the time. You mentioned that a belt underneath their clips could cause them to bend too far out where their integrity may become compromised. I think that is a mistake because even with a belt, the clips are meant to be 100% behind the belt. But I guess this could still be true for some crazy thick pant material. The thickest I can think of is heavy duty jeans, and they actually excel in that department. - The last thing I say is a factor you didn’t cover at all (and that’s fine because you said these were the topics that were most important to ‘you’)… but I think many viewers may care about - is the ability to tuck in a shirt while using these clips. This is probably most important for people that dress in polos or button downs for work/daily wear. I’m also attracted to UltiClips for this reason. They aren’t perfect. They cause your belt to bulge a little… BUT they are the only reliable clips I’ve found that don’t actually expose themselves on the outside of a belt. You mentioned the smaller version of the last one you showed in this video (Mod4 “behind belt”) as being made for the belt to go over them AND you think they are more secure to the pants AND you think they are the most low profile. I REALLY want to try those now. Again, would have been nice to see you wearing those behind a belt (especially since you mentioned it is one of your most frequently worn options now) and even without a belt but that’s the one you just held it up with your hands for us to see. (For anyone curious, I can even use my UltiClips on basketball shorts and it works fantastic. You just want to make sure that the draw string is tied so that your entire hip line isn’t elastic, and you want to make sure the draw string is tucked up inside of the j-hook of the UltiClip before cranking down on the lever tab.)

Wouldn’t the issue with the monoblock not matter if there was a firearm in the holster? It would prevent the kydex from bending and breaking

I had very high hopes for the Monoblock, but I had to quit using it immediately. When I tried pulling my shirt up, to draw, the bottom of the clip grabbed onto my shirt. Perhaps others don't have that problem. I was using it with a 2-layer, leather gun belt. It may be it is really meant for fabric belts, or no belt.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s safe to attach a gun to basketball shorts. You can definitely find a clip that will hold onto that material, but the weight of just about any gun, even with the draw string super tight, can cause the gun and holster to dump out of the waistband. You’ll need to use something with a stronger waistband, a belt, or an Enigma.

@tessahbooth3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's a big enough issue that you should be afraid to use the clip. It's simply something to be aware of as a user. Unless you put an unprecedented amount of pressure on the monoblock with an empty holster, it shouldn't crack the holster shell all at once. I would just be aware that it CAN be a failure point in some circumstances, and to check your holster on a consistent basis. Kydex changes to a slightly lighter color in the sections where it's experiencing significant wear, and will often give you clues (like light coloring and small creasing) that it's wearing down well before it actually breaks. So essentially, like anything else, just pay attention to the condition of your gear :)

I’d first recommend looking into the enigma system, but if that’s not in the cards than I’d go discreet carry concept clips and a sturdy waistband over an ulticlip every time 😊

@@tessahbooth Ulticlips are designed for beltless carry, except for the new XL. Try one of the Ulticlips that suits your needs.
