Fondant Basics: Coloring Red Fondant Tips and Tricks

Here is a quick video explaining how I achieve a red color fondant. I’m this video I am using:
- Americolor Super Red Gel Color
- FondX Fondant
- Vegetable Shortening
Use a dab of vegetable shortening and apply to hands and work surface. Push a little well inside the fondant for the color and mix well. Add a little more color and mix well. Wrap the fondant completely and allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes. If the color still isn’t deep enough add a little more color, mix well. And for me I needed it even darker so I added a final bit of gel color and mixed well. I wrapped completely and let set again for 30 minutes. The color was perfect! Hope this helps.
