50% of quilters pre-wash fabric, 50% don't. If you don't prewash, it's more crisp to sew on. I always pre-wash, though.

I always prewash my fabric before putting it in my stash.... If you pink the raw edge before washing there won't be a big ball of loose strings

I don't pre-wash, I prefer to leave the sizing in the material. Then you wash it after you have quilted, everything shrinks together.

Why is it hard to quilt on my sewing machine ?it feels like my brain has to work backwards. Is this just me or am I right. On a long arm it feels like I'm moving in the right direction.

+Mary H. No, I have a Tiara and it is not nearly that expensive. A longarm might be, but not a sit down mid arm.

the Tiara will run about $6k and a lot of dealers offer financing. much more affordable than a longarm on a frame
