Pretty cool. When Gerry Rafferty wrote the song originally the famous sax line was a guitar line. Cool to hear it in that form even if it's a cover.
@SmallPersonRoo4 жыл бұрын
SuperStrik9 you can hear the original form. They released the original demo of Baker Street, with Rafferty playing the solo on guitar

I love this because all the saccharine flavour of the original that makes it “oh so 80s” is gone. It’s a great song with the proper dose of grunge upcycling.

It couldn't sound like the original. Foo Fighters were a 90's band and I'm impressed with this, particularly giving up the crack and the one night stands.

There's been a lot of recent remakes of classic hits lately. This was the first that I can think of in the late 90s. One of my favs is Godsmack's Sully on a grand piano covering Metallica's Nothing Else Matters.

What's the catalogue number on your CD copy? What is the copyright year after the p symbol? Also, what record label logos does your CD have on it? You may have an import CD copy and not the original USA pressing that Capitol-EMI originally released back in 1997 for the USA market. The reason I say this is because A&R reps at Capitol have a really bad habit of modifying track listings on USA album releases vs the same albums released in foreign countries. Their behaviour in this goes all the way back to The Beatles albums in the early 1960's. Before The Beatles formed Apple Records in 1967 to control how their albums would be released in the USA, Capitol Records modified the track listings on many of their ealier albums released to the USA market from the way that Parlophone Records had released them in the UK.
