This song (along with a handful of other Foo tunes) has kept me sane during a long, ugly chapter of my life. When I thought I couldn't handle anymore and was about to lose my sh*t, I'd put this on and realize "Eff it, I'm not going to let this situation get the best of me! I'm stronger than this. When you write a song people feel in their everyday boring lives, it speaks to them, it becomes their anthem, and it blows up. This is the anthem song of every corporate drone, every lover taken for granted, we've all felt this way. keep this song alive today, because its message is still valid.

Surprised they didn’t think it was that good. That only shows what a genius Dave and the rest of the band are. To me, this song cuts deep. All my demons, doubts, weaknesses come bubbling up the surface and then I squash them all with one loud scream, one hard strum of a guitar, and one hard bang if the drums, one after another and another and another. What starts off as a journey into some really dark places in my soul ends up with feelings of complete euphoria. This song is part of the soundtrack of my life.

The band is listening to the song as musicians and lyricists. Most of the people that make the songs popular are not musicians, different things appeal to them, the public has a much more basic understanding of music and what they want from their music is basic too. As an extreme example, why does pop music sell? Musically it is absolute rubbish with a simple beat and 3 chord progression with some shitty lyrics attached yet people buy that crap. Same Kinda concept. Sorry for using the pop music example, I was just trying to make a point using an extreme example, didn't want to offend FF.

First album i ever bough with my own money was In Utero. It’s one of first things I’ve bought with my own money. However a year or two later I bought In Your Honor as a gift to my friend at the time leaving for the marines. He took the CD. When he came back home I saw that he never even listened to it. So I bought my own copy of the CD, and it’s now become one of my favorite Foo records. Not because it’s a good record, it really does suck in places, but it has its charm and it has a specific sound, and I can vibe with it especially now since I’m 20 and I’m a little older and songs like “No Way Back” and “In Your Honor” make more sense now

This song can mean so many things. For me rn its heartbreak. I was blind sided by being in my late 30’s and getting a divorce and then getting my heart broke the first relationship I found. Like I forgot what this feels like and or I’m feeling it really bad for the first time and I’m 37! 37!

The lyrics are very philosophical in my opinion. "FRESH POT" seriously time for a cup. I really relate to this song. I was born to resist! Some people are always trying to get the best of you. Resist is not to pretend and go through shit. To confess as with resistance is to admit you don't trust you avoid at best destruction of your hope a broken heart interruption of life and healing of harms etc. you come off a bit cold. On the other hand if you were born to be abused your life is a cycle of people getting the best of you and your stationary and a constant victim. Ahhh just what I got from it. Dave is a goofy little fellow genius like dude! Go fight the Foo!!! Shout out to the Mommy! Steal his thunder! I love him dearly but Mommy you need to take an abundant amount of credit for being the Mommy you are! From CRADLE TO STAGE! He is a good boy!

@SparrowHawk769 жыл бұрын
Nirvana/Kurt did the same thing. He hated Teen Spirit, their best known song, so much so that he often fucked up the solo on purpose. (He also tended to "downplay success" alot throughout his career, but I digress) I suppose some of that rubbed off on Dave.
@KevCraven9 жыл бұрын
I think Kurt must have liked it at first, he didn't like what it became; an anthem, the only song the casual fans wanted to hear etc. I don't think he'd listen to some manager telling him what song to put on a record though like Dave says here.

Wait, why does th say he likes rope as though other ppl don't, don't they? It was the first song I heard from that album & I think my 2nd fav, also that's the song that hot me to like ff, as I knew just a very little about dg & nirvana, & since they never got too much playing time & I was too young to have the internet on pc or a cellphone capable of that (just before most ppl started getting smartphones, the blackberry era, which I didnt have). There's also another reference that I saw the history (which I didn't take) high school teacher have their 1st album cover (the 1 with the gun), on the projector & the music playing very softly, but that's another thing

cameron turpin it didn't ruin the power of the song for me. Honestly, the song is so powerful because we relate to it. We have memories of feeling powerless and then you play this song and Taylor FUCKING Hawkins is beating the shit out of his drums and Dave is growling/ screaming like a howling beast and you feel powerful. What they said just reminded me that they're human. And as such they're idiots Lol
@PhantomOfTheMall7 жыл бұрын
Ruined it? Nah. It’s very typical of most any artist to be self critical of their work. Their “post production feelings” takes nothing away from the song itself. Doesn’t matter how many times I hear the song, I can tell there was ALOT of pain and angst in the song...lyrics and music...and performance. Just a superb song all around.
