My one year anniversary of switching to eating plant-based is coming up Aug. 1. I have noticed that my mood has drastically changed. I used to be very snarky, impatient, and reactive to perceived slights. I'm not saying I'm perfect now, but I feel so much better and kinder. It's incredible. Oh, and I've lost about 90lbs and decreased most of my meds, including getting completely off my anti-depressant. Friends ask if I miss cheese. No. I don't miss feeling like crap every dang day of my life. 💞

This was probably one of the most informative Dr. Fuhrman lectures I've seen to date on your show. His eloquent style in the way he presents exactly why there is such a thing as food addiction and the reasons why processed food is so addictive, makes this such an interesting topic and hopefully will garner more attention in that we need to have more research studies supporting the fact that fast food, processed food and salt, sugar and saturated fat are the villains. Food addiction is not looked at as such is because we do need food to survive. However the franken food like substance stuff that manufacturing companies are allowed to sell is not food. I guess you could say that we could eat the cacao plant but we shouldn't eat the cocaine. Not sure if that's a good example but I think that's why food addiction is not looked at as a real thing. . We had one kid in the class that was fat back in the day (1965) and that was it. It's obvious, it's the processed food causing the health problems. I'm going to get the book Fast Food Genocide. I think it's not a best seller because people don't want to hear bad news about their addictive habits. Thanks Chef AJ, I look forward to all of your shows.

I love Dr. Fuhrman and AJ. They are examples of someone to look up to for their dedication and their service to healthy eating. I’ve learned much from them. I am an example when I see my relatives of what they could be health wise. Just by being an example of a correct way of eating, I can show the people I love why they need to change. If not, I still have my life to live, knowing I tried.😁💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Thank you Dr Fuhrman! I love this so much - always learn a ton when you’re on. Thanks for saying it’s okay to eat fats too. I’m in my thirties and have a hard time keeping at a healthy weight without including some nut butter on my oats or seeds on top on veggie stir fry’s etc I think in different seasons of our lives our bodies may need different things. I’m active and my period actually just came back this past spring after years - because I’ve been eating a healthy, nutritarian style diet! Amazing what diet can do! Chef AJ you look beautiful as always ☺️

My friends support me in whatever type of food I eat. I fail to sustain a whole food plant based life style, not because I’m looking for approval by others. In my case, the familiar aroma of food in restaurants is what gets me to choose regular American food. I am a kind person no matter what I eat. Hence, I’m trying Chef AJ’s idea of a retreat from going out to restaurants and/or, not cooking with oil. I am on Day 13 of my 30-day experiment. Even just driving to my appointments or an activity commitment, I drive past my favorite restaurants and it’s hard not to stop. I have to do a lot of self talk on why I’m doing this … for my health. I have told my friends what I’m doing and they are okay with it but family members are less understanding … but it doesn’t matter to me who approves or not. It’s my body, my responsibility. I happen to like Dr Fuhrman! His book, many years ago, Eat to Live, helped me get off blood pressure meds. I respect him very much. I have his cookbook and another book of his as well. Good luck to all, to find their own path to good health.

I know I am a little late to the comments. I love Dr Fuhrman and the lifestyle he promotes. I am Deeply saddened that I couldn’t convince my husband to follow it. He has just been diagnosed with heart failure. At 52 years young. We will know the stage next month after seeing the cardiologist. He treated his body like a garbage can for many years. Please folks listen to the good doctor. It’s never to late or to early. Why wouldn’t you want to live in good vibrant health? It is Not worth it to eat what you want all the time, and leave this earth decades to early. Not ever completing the purpose you were born for. All the best. ❤️

My take as a food as medicine healer, is that we won't heal our addiction with food until we address our underlying fundamental motivation for eating poorly/our thinking. Once we have addressed our underlying thinking, then we can heal with food. I call our fundamental stance in the world a sponsoring thought, as it sets the groundwork for all the rest of our thinking.

In 12 step programs the first step is powerlessness over an addictive substance. It’s manufactured food not broccoli that people are addicted to.

I must admit that I'm more or less addicted to broccoli. I can literally crave it ;-) I ate some candy last week, thinking I needed extra calories, but the sweetness was disgusting... I agree with dr. Fuhrman that a sustained change in diet changes the things you want to eat.
