I take a small bottle of water in my purse because I am not well & sometimes need a sip. But food, coffee, etc.? No!

I know a church where they provide free coffee and popcorn during service. It annoyed me so bad. Are you there for the Word of God or just to be entertained? You’d hear folks chewing away on their popcorn and folks spilled their coffee too. Such a distraction.

I went to a church in Louisiana. Not only did they have coffee, they have a coffee shop inside the church. This was the best church that I have ever been to. They allowed us to drink coffee in the sanctuary. People who represent God don't refer to other Christians as stupid. Religion needs to respect that people worship in different ways. If you don't like something that is going on at one church, go find you a church that fits the way you would like to worship.

Some theaters allow food and drink in the house during performances and some don’t. And yes, I see church services as performances.

You should get saved and you won't see them that way. If all a church is doing, is putting on a performance, you need to get out of that church. Church is supposed to be about God and teaching people about his word. Teach people about being born again. God is not in a lot of the churches out here today. If that's what it is to you, you have no relationship at all with Christ! You should be more worried about your soul. Just because people in churches say they know Christ or claim to be Christians, does not make it true. The Bible says " you shall know them by their fruits". This is, by the way they live, by their conduct of life. Does it match up to the word of God or is it just a part of the world? Most people draw near to Christ with their lips, but their hearts are far from him. There are very few real churches out here today.

I have to disagree w Pat on this one . It IS disrespectful to the Lords house when your trying to hear The Word and instead your distracted by the rustling of wrappers , slurping drinks , chomping food , kids wanting this and that w food . It's quite annoying and takes away from what your there for .

It’s great to have coffee. It’s not disrespectful. Gods house is also my home. The house of God Jesus spoke of was torn down.

Number one, it is disrespectful to the Lord. Jesus said His Father's House is a House of Prayer.

Jesus was talking about the temple. A church building is not a temple, *we* are the temple; the body of Jesus Christ.

These days there are parents who pamper their kids overly, and allow them to munch chips (yack louder), crackles of the chips cover, and juice which they spill over the floor. Wonder why the parents can’t take them to children’s room and teach kids from this age itself to show respect while the sermon is going on. In this case, in mosque, fathers are very strict towards their kids and don’t allow them to eat inside mosque as they respect their praying place.

I don't think that God cares if you drink or eat in church as long as you are there for the right reasons.

Jordan River Sermon is for an hour. Is anybody going to die if they don’t eat for an hours time? Is that hungry or greedy, why not step outside and eat? Thus avoid distraction and keeping inside clean!! 🤔
@carolamoore725 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with Pat. The church that I go to does the same thing with coffee and I think that it is a distraction when people go in and out to get coffee and bring it back in. Also you have the children and teenagers drinking it now, and that is ridiculous!

Pat, you're ripping things out of context here! Paul did NOT say to have your meal at home and then have communion, he said that we should SHARE the meal of the Lord. So if you are to hungry too share, then have a meal at home FIRST, only then go to church to share the meal of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 11:21 For as you eat, many of you proceed with your own meal *to the exclusion of others.* While one remains hungry, another gets drunk. 1 Corinthians 11:33-34 So, my brothers, when you come together to eat, *wait for one another.* If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you come together it will not result in judgment. And when I come, I will give instructions about the remaining matters.

A bit dogmatic no? It should be forbidden? Good thing your not God nor scribe not translator so even if you feel it should be "forbidden" it's not. If it keeps them in the church longer that's good, if everyone else likes it and your the only one who doesn't then find a church that better suits you
