"When suddenly, Santa’s sleigh appeared, led by six white boomers, Spreading Christmas cheer across the Aussie outback!" We definitely have some unique Christmas traditions here. Fruit cake is a classic, and Christmas crackers add a fun touch to our celebrations. For dessert, we often enjoy Christmas pudding with custard, but also lighter desserts like trifle, which are perfect for the warm weather here in Queensland. Your tradition of oranges and nuts in stockings sounds lovely!

@ That is awesome! I hope you had a wonderful warm Christmas. We had an unseasonably warm drizzly Christmas, which is way better than snow and cold in my opinion! I think the oranges and nuts were a hold over from the Great Depression but I always loved it. I’d eat all the Brazil nuts first.

One of mine (and my toddlers) favorite easy breakfasts is to take the large shredded wheats (I think similar to your wheatbix cereals) and soak them in a bit of milk, add some butter on top, and sprinkle with sugar, maybe a bit of cinnamon, and bake for a little while. It make a nice warm breakfast for us!

We make "poor man's stroganoff" minced meat, crm of mushroom soup with some cooking water to thin out a bit, onion and mushrooms (if you have some) served over noodles.

Perhaps a rice pudding? You could use the almond milk, grate some orange rind into it and serve with banana on top. A bit of cinnamon and/or nutmeg would do nicely, and/or a handful of raisins instead.
