You're a lifesaver! I'm almost 30 and going back to school for nursing... I've struggled with basic math concepts all my life. Up until I found your videos this week. You're the first person to explain in a way that resonates in my head. I can't thank you enough!

I agree. I watch your videos all the time now that I'm taking Chemistry. You teach so well. I'm thoroughly confused when leaving class and then watch your videos and then I have a very clear picture. Couldn't survive this course without you :)

This was actually quite helpful for me work on changing enthalpies for a chemical reaction work. It uses basically the same formula (although it is all related to enthalpy change rather than calories changing the way the "specific heat capacity of water" is written and meaning the change in temperature would be given as a negative if it is increased to show it is exothermic - it is basically the same) - and knowing why it works for this helps a lot in this later work.

I wish I could take an online class with you as the teacher and have online quizzes based on your videos. :/ instead I'm stuck with my professor who tells us " this test is going to be all over chapter 4, 5, and 6" "is there anything specific we should focus on sir?" "Yes, food calorimetry sounds important." *test has nothing to do with food calorimetry* "Sir, you told us to remember food calorimetry and these 12 equations or we wouldn't pass. None of that was on the test." "Life is full of surprises! Next time be more prepared." if I fail this class I have to payback the money from my schlorship :(

You should teach my class, your videos are so ridiculously helpful thank you so much for taking time to make these!

Wow, in less than 8 minutes I’ve learned so much! You have a gift in teaching! I wish you were my chemistry professor, my professor sucks. I learned more with your videos than my 5 hour chemistry class that I have twice a week.

You're such a great teacher. Thank you for this well explained lesson, your way to teach it's so calm.

It's not necessary in here like for instance if you convert to Kelvin you get a value of temperature at the end of 85+273=358K then you substract 15+273= 288 K => Delta T = 358K-288K= 70K and in the same way if you substract 85°C-15°C= 70°C Converting to Kelvin is really necessary in formulas like pV=nRT etc

Thank you. What is the formula for finding the mass of water. Do I use D= m/v?
@cristianjrojas12 жыл бұрын
It's clear that the mass of water have to be use, but why the mass of the fuel is ignore? Delta T not only depend of the amount of water, but the amount of head that received, and by simple picking up a bigger potato you will have a different value.

HOW precise is it ? Would there be still the same result if I repeated this burning about 5 times ? What about If I did it in the other way heating water and measuring a chip ? Whats the accuracy ?
