I always love to tell this story: Cup noodle went famous precisely because of this during a kidnapping incident that was on air across major Japan TV stations. Back in the 1970s, some extreme factions in Japanese communist party, the Japanese Red Army kiddnapped some hostages and held out inside Asama Mansion on a mountain. It was feburary and the mountain was rather remote so the police people who were in confrontation with the kiddnappers couldn't have hot food, so they brought newly launched cup noodle from Nissin, and ate it during the cold nights. The situation was broadcasted by all major TV stations, and cup noodle's sale bloomed for the first time in history

The best part is how he takes delivery to the next level. Literally goes and opens his shop where the customer agrees to meet and makes the food there for them. It's no wonder why he was rushing and working so quickly literally moving from. One to the the other. I liked how he joked with the other customers sayIng I thought you run after my stall or can you eat a large bowl (ok this one might be semi joke joke but still) You can tell how happy they were getting that bowl from conversation in the background. He'll the girl didn't feel comfortable to be on camera yet she still decided I'll get that ramen no matter what (the one who said she had no make up). You can tell they are teaching kids discipline at a very early age. Full of smiles, says thank you, returns the tray to the chef and says thank you. I'm glad my parents taught me manners when I was young though I ended up having some telling me I'm too polite sometimes lol

I am always wowed by the Japanese generous helpings of toppings on their ramen noodle bowls, throughout Japan. In Hawaii, when I was a child growing up there, saimin noodle food establishments were still plentiful. These were usually small, hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop eateries. But you would never see such a large amount of toppings like slices of pork, a half egg, ample sliced green onions, et al. In Hawaii decades ago, one of these, mom-and-pop saimin noodle bowls would typically include scant toppings that were there mostly as visual garnishing. There would be chopped slivers of Chinese char siu sweet pork, chopped slivers of spam, chopped slivers of Japanese fish kamaboko, chopped slivers of cooked egg, and a small, teaspoon amount of chopped green onions. I say, chopped slivers frequently because that was how it usually was. Your bowl of curly wheat saimin noodles in broth would not contain whole slices of pork or spam. Hawaii mom-and-pop saimin noodle eateries could not afford to be so generous. Japanese ramen noodle eateries and itinerant food stalls and trucks is supposed to be a Japanese tradition dating back to around 1985. But saimin noodle mom-and-pop local eateries in Hawaii date back to the plantation era of Hawaii in the early 1900s. Typically one would see Japanese people running these local saimin noodle eateries so you assumed saimin noodles was totally a Japanese thing. Saimin noodle local eateries in Hawaii reached their peak just before the mid-20th century and remained popular going into the 1960s when the decline started. People who ran the mom-and-pop saimin noodle eateries retired; their children having gone on to higher education and subsequent careers. Property values increased and many of these places closed and were torn down for residential and business properties. By the late 1970s, saimin noodles remained as popular in Hawaii as ever, but the widespread of local saimin noodle eateries had greatly decreased and was but a shadow of its former self.
