This is a great example of why you would not want to replace the food and drink components with more fancy versions of themselves. Otherwise great playthrough as always! Also, just thinking about how good this already was and how much better it is now makes you realise what kind of value HC adds to the hobby.

An enjoyable watch. FCM doesn't strike me as the easiest game to showcase in this manner due to it's high level of non-obvious strategy, but you guys did a great job of showing how the game plays, both mechanically and Machiavellianly. And the new studio looks great. Looking forward Indonesia! :)

@43:50 that restaurant should (strategically speaking) be rotated 90° counter-clockwise since there's no benefit to it being the way it is after the player understood that crossing a tile boundary is what makes for increased distance. Edit: Oh good, he noticed and rotated it after the initial auction.

The only Splotter I own is UR: 1830 B.C. but that is more of a strange 18XX title than anything else. Though I have played FCM, I enjoyed it but felt it required that all the players have to be at the same level, otherwise experienced players will just make new players into spectators, unable to stand a chance.

Nit: @44:40 initial restaurant placement says one's not allowed to have the front door on the same tile. I.e. you can be half on the same tile as long as it doesn't include your restaurant's exit. Edit: he clarified this rule shortly after.

FCM is probably in my current top three. The only game I would definitely place higher is 1817. I don't think they have ever played it, but they have had some great 18xx plays on the channel, though 1817 is its own beast.

2:53:54 Edward should have satisfied more houses with his coke (from the 2 coke and 1 beer under player 5 next to the board) which got moved during the bank breaking. He would have therefore also satisfied House #1 and House #3 getting $23 and $41 respectively I think (Gardens and discount) And then causing ongoing changes in demand for House #3 into the future

Catching up on the hours I missed (sorry, the live stream hiatus was only slightly longer than it has been since I last talked with her, and I get in trouble if I get my priorities wrong!), it seems there should have been demand put on House 1 for lemonade due to a mail campaign (the same one that puts demand on Houses 7, 18, and 21 [24? curse my eyes!]). This occurs at about the same point as Matt makes his elephant fry pun. Interestingly, since House 1 is served first, they would take Edward's lemonade before he could sell it to House 7 (but since they had a garden, they would pay him 2x8 + 5 = $21 for the privilege). Of course, since he could see that coming, he could use his Errand Boy that round to get more lemonade (instead of the pair of soda pops he grabs). All told, this error probably only cost Edward $21, which, considering end scores, is not a crushing blow. I mention it because it illustrates A) how easy it is to get into a habit when doing advertising, then missing game state changes and B) the effect of demand on a low numbered house can have on your poor plans for later riches! But mainly, I am making this comment because Matt's pun was under appreciated in its own time! Thumbs up for Dumbo puns! Edit: I finally realized that the house I couldn't tell if it was House 21 or 24 was actually House 12... I see real good...
@kennyb33257 жыл бұрын
Also, House 7 seems to have missed a soda pop at the end of the demand phase that ends 2:14:30. No time stamp on the last comment because I waited until dinner time to make sure my eyes didn't just miss a piece that was actually on the board (then I was too lazy to go back and get a time stamp, because it was by the elephant pun, so who needs one?).
@kennyb33257 жыл бұрын
The goods Edward tossed at 2:50:30 were indeed his, but he "should" have used them fulfilling some orders during the previous dinner hour. I vote that since he has to split his attention between playing and dealing with the live stream, he should just be awarded $100 (in game score, not in cash, well, not my cash at least) each game he plays. Obviously, this will be more helpful in some games (like FCM) than in others (like 1830), and downright strange in still others (Dokmus, I have 53 points and $100...?).
@kennyb33257 жыл бұрын
On that note, Edward did not get his "first beverage advertised" bonus on the beer and 2 cokes when he fulfilled House 3. This happened at about 3:13:00, but I waited to see if it would be caught, so I didn't grab the exact time stamp. So he should be at 16x5 + 15 = $95.
@kennyb33257 жыл бұрын
Edward's billboard placement at 3:31:09 is technically against the rules, as I understand them, since it is within range, but he doesn't have road access to any of the squares of the billboard. However, he could market to the exact same houses by rotating the billboard to be horizontal (rather than vertical), and then it would be beside a road he can reach. Since this affects nothing, I only mention it to illustrate the details of range calculations.
