American fast food chains do adapt to the local likings of the host country. In Southeast Asia for example, McDonald's and KFC offer rice along with the main menu items.

Same here in Bangladesh. We eat a lot of rice. Many folks will eat rice for all three meals. Although we don't have McDonald's due to them having a different business model than other popular fast food places. But I hope they open a location here in the future. Same with Starbucks tbh. Bangladesh used to have Baskin Robbins and even Nandos but they were closed which was sad. We do have only one location of A&W, but I don't think it's doing well at the moment.

The standards for english speaking is a lot higher in India. We are again unique in Czechia, we say "mekdonald" without S at the end, because older people in the past probably didn't know it means something, so they dropped it in 90s and we still say it like that, or short version "mekáč" (mekaach), Burger King is "bukáč" (bhukaach) 😀 Fast foods and other chains which came later mostly don't have proper short name and people just say it how it's written, like "staarbaks" or we just pronounce letters like in Czech, so instead "khey-ef-see" we have "khaa-ef-tsee" or "káefcéčko" (khaaeftsechko) but it looks ridiculous when I am trying to type it in English alphabet.

Sometimes, being American, I feel bad for our foreign friends. Here basically, McDonalds is food for kids. In Wisconsin, we have Culver's, which is still pretty fast food, but the burger patties are fresh ground beef cooked when you order them, so they taste way better. Fast food for adults. Frozen custard too, the real stuff, cause this is the dairy state in the US. The KFC bit was fun, would be interesting to hear them all pronounce the word "Kentucky", as it is difficult for even us northerners to say that word without having a little bit of a southern US accent.

2:57 in Brazil there are three ways on pronuncing the sound of "r" in the end of a syllable (like star). In the front of the mouth like her (São Paulo city accent), in the throat (like a French r) or in the back of the mouth (similar to the American r). Depending on the region of the country one of them is used and not the other two.

Indians saying Mac D is similar to how we Americans shorten McDonald’s to Mickey D’s. With KFC I don’t think there can really be a proper pronunciation because it’s letters. Just like I don’t think English speakers incorrectly pronounce BMW. IMO People are fine to pronounce the alphabet in their language. Now saying Kentucky Fried Chicken would be different and have a “proper” pronunciation. Actually Kentucky is of Native American origin. Most of my friends from Spanish speaking countries say e-Starbucks. They also say e-school, e-stove, e-star and so on. It can take some getting used to but I don’t think it stops people from understanding them.

In the USA we have a lot of retail and restaurant chains that only operate in certain parts of the country or go by different names depending on what part of the country they are in. I recently discovered Dutch Brothers Coffee after moving to the Midwest. We don’t have them in the South.

The portuguese don't is hard, the most difficult in our language is the great variety of different pronunciations and expressions, but the grammar is very easy for foreigners.

@@anticomuna0649 Fácil? Todas as línguas neo latinas têm a gramática complicada. Você pode dizer que a gramática do inglês é fácil, mas do português não. Ou melhor, se você pretende falar correctamente é complicado. O que é uma raridade em terras tupiniquins.

No compares el español al inglés. El español tiene la mitad de sonidos, por lo tanto, la pronunciación es mucho más sencilla.

kinda surprised by the fact that KFC isn't popular in Spain or Austria. In India where I am from, every other city, like small cities too, has at least a KFC.
@codyfromhumanresources6435 Жыл бұрын
That’s interesting because I live in the western side of the US and there are actually a lot less KFCs around here than there were when I was little.

In Europe in general KFC is more expensive, compared to the other fast food chains, also chicken is not a very popular meat and for the European taste, it's very spicy.

I’m from Austria and I’m pretty sure that I haven’t seen more than three KFCs in my whole life. So it’s really not that popular! ahahah

in the uk it's different, KFC IS EVERYWHERE. i used to live in india and (in my opinion) KFC in India is way better cuz the spiced chicken you get in KFC india, you wouldn't get that in KFC here. for example the chicken popcorn here just tastes like normal chicken nuggets without the masala,

Woww , 😨 so many food chains in India but not in other countries 🤌 i liked it that they are not getting caught up in a American wave, probably have their own localised version of food chains and that's good for their own economy 🙌🏽

In Brazil we don't say McDonalds like Ana used to say. We say: Méqui. Actually McDonalds does not write McDonalds on the billboards in Brazil, writes: Méqui.
