Rewatching Soul Food as an adult i’ve come to the realization that the family treated Terri like garbage. They used & abused her. The movie made Terri look like the villain because of her standoffish demeanor. The reason why she was negative Nancy was because Max stole her boyfriend & married him, the family made her pay for everything & her marriage was on the rocks. Max was a lowkey bum. Bird was probably still messing around with Simuel because she didn’t set any boundaries & she went behind her husband’s back to Simuel to get him a job. Here are some fun facts: The late Whitney Houston & Halle Berry were considered for the role of Terri.

FUN FACT: you said Vanessa Williams a.k.a. Terri, looked like Tyra Banks. The funny thing is that Showtime ended up having a show based off this movie called soul Food. Actress Nicole Ari Parker played Terri, the character Vanessa Williams played. She looks a lot more like Tyra Banks. And in one of the episodes, the sisters discovered that their father had another child out of wedlock, who was played by Tyra Banks. So on the TV show version, Tyra Banks played their half sister. And they noted how she looked like Terri.

Faith 100% targeted Miles the moment she stepped into Terri's home. She was eavesdropping on Miles & Terri's arguments all the time. She took advantage of their strained marriage. Miles took advantage of the attention Faith showed him. Yes, Terri was negligent to her husband but that doesn't justify his cheating. Other than not supporting his music career, Terri seemed devoid of intimacy or affection towards Miles. My guess is that Terri is still jaded from having her heart broken all those years ago. Also, the entire family, with exception to Lem, took full advantage of Terri financially. They felt that since Terri was the most financially successful she should be responsible for all the bills. Honestly, when Maxine revealed that she filled a cease & desist to stop the house from selling, I would've said with a big smile "have fun paying those taxes" & walked away.
@tdomonique5042 ай бұрын
Definitely don’t agree with them using her for her money but as far as heartbreak… I don’t think her and Kenny were serious like that. ( didn’t look like it) And if she hasn’t recovered from that, that’s a personal issue she should have worked on by now cause they are happily married with kids at this point. Like work your issues out before you get married, no one should have to deal with your emotional baggage. She treated Mikes like shit… no he shouldn’t have cheated… absolutely wrong for that but I won’t pretend like I don’t understand him checking out on her. Terri was cold and stuck up… and it was the entire movie. Like did she ever even smile? Who wants to be around someone like that… I sure as hell wouldn’t. Then she stuck her nose in Lem and Bird’s business and made shit worse. I don’t think she was a villain but I also don’t think she was a full out victim either. You attract the energy you give out.
@laurynalana18762 ай бұрын
I respectfully disagree 💯. Faith wasn’t after miles at all. She was after a dream and so was he. They just had something in common and understood each each other, which is what led up to that vulnerable moment, which they instantly regretted. Plus, you know the faith in the movie isn’t the same as the faith in the show. When Terry says what are you gonna do run up mama’s credit? She did that in the movie not the show. Otherwise Terry would’ve said run up mama’s credit again.
@antoinettetruss1991Ай бұрын
@@tdomonique504you are forgetting that miles is her second husband her first husband cheated on her too if I remember correctly. And I don't think her lack of desire for intimacy was from the baggage she was being used as a piggy bank as often as possible by her family and the man that she married that was handsome stable and dependable decided he wanted to make a huge life change that will lead her to be more responsible for their livelihood while she was already stressed out of her mind taking care of her ungrateful behind family. If miles was a good husband he would've waited until things calmed down before full on quitting his job to pursue music.

When rewatching the movie I noticed that Terri and Ahmad do seem to have a special bond. No matter what Terri and Maxine were going through Ahmad could always call on her. I think the reason for this is because deep down side Terri feels that Miles should have been hers.

You mean Kenny?… Miles was Terri’s husband. And if you watch the series.. the bond you are referring to is just a family bond. He had it with Bird too!
