My name is “Wingit” and I am attempting an Appalachian Trail 2024 Thru Hike - without much of a plan, in fact, I am Winging it along the way. Here is another day I am grateful to share with everyone.
I had another tough day on trail, logging miles in less than ideal circumstances because of the Doxycycline Anti-biotic. The trail and terrain have been relatively easy, but not feeling great has kept me in the moment and hiking with minimal effort.
Today, I hiked into Table Rock, Pennsylvania and I discuss not feeling well and how my mindset allows me to continue on, without using ego to will myself to continue to hike in order to prove some point. My mind wanders like everyone else’s, and I question why I feel the need to continue on instead of rest. The difference is I use my mind as a tool in which I analyze the situation, rather than just listening to it or taking orders from it. It has been difficult but not an impossible scenario.
I believe you can absolutely be content in any situation regardless of the circumstance. It’s not just a mantra, it is the way I see life.
Please let me know your thoughts and if you haven’t joined us on this journey, please subscribe and join us as we all trek the road together.
DONATIONS - My needs are met so
ANY & ALL donations will be utilized to help less fortunate hikers. Many are hiking with minimal food & substandard gear, infrequent opportunities to get out of inclement weather, do laundry, or acquire a bunk at a local hostile. Many survive by donated gear from hiker boxes to experience the magic of the Appalachian Trail.
I believe the gift is in the give and utilize every opportunity to be of service to others; on the trail and off. I do what I can, any additional contributions will further validate the AT Mantra “The Trail Provides.”
Love & Peace,
“Wingit”

Hey Wingit, I just listened to everything you've been going through out there on the trail, and I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of you. It takes such strength and determination to keep going, especially under these tough circumstances. Your resilience is truly inspiring. I hear you about the challenges with the antibiotics and the lack of calories. It must be incredibly rough, but your attitude through it all is amazing. You're taking it one step at a time, listening to your body, and making smart decisions. That's what makes you such a remarkable hiker and person. Remember, it's okay to feel drained and exhausted; what you're doing is incredibly demanding. But also know that your spirits shining through this adversity is a testament to your incredible character. You're not just walking through the physical challenge of the Appalachian Trail; you're embracing every moment, the highs and the lows, and that's something to be immensely proud of. Take care of yourself out there, my friend. Stay hydrated, find those little moments of peace by the creek, and keep doing what you're doing with that amazing spirit of yours. I'm here rooting for you every step of the way. Take care and feel better, Kane

I can’t say anything that you don’t already know… so I’ll save you from that. I hope wherever you are, that you’re feeling better, you’ve caught up with friends, and enjoying the trail whilst eating…✌️🙂💚Be safe my Friend!🙂

Even though it's a "hike to nowhere" and "it's the journey not the destination"...I can imagine that the Marine in you...the achiever... would like to finish this monster, especially having made it this far. These are the true doldrums...heat of summer, dwindling thruhikers, and dealing with the physical and mental challenges. Hope you're still hanging in there and please know that we're inspired by your good spirits, positive outlook and perseverence! (But for Pete's sake, take some time off if it will help!)
