Gardening with Bear Brown

Күн бұрын

In this video, I give a tour of my food forest. There are many examples of trees that may interest you. I have so many Asian Pear trees in my backyard food forest. I also show the trees that have issues with fire blight. This issue has killed 2 of my fruit trees. Hopefully, the tour will get someone interested in planting some fruit trees.

Awesome fruit tree collection! I have a Bartlett dwarf pear tree and looking to get another to help pollinate. Even though it actually produced fruit without a pollinator . Also my Honey crisp Apple tree is about 30 years old so its well established. I have plums and cherry tree too! I look forward to seeing your trees take off growing! Stay Blessed

I appreciate it. This is the first year that my peach trees have set fruit. I was so surprised. I thought one would, but nope, all 3 did. Wow 30 year old tree!!! How big is it? My pears got me nervous because of blight. You stay Blessed as well. Thanks.

Squirrels ate every Nectarine I had last year 😂. I caught them in the act. They were my bros until that point. I would get corn for them, and stake them to the fence so they would leave my garden alone. But they eventually betrayed me. I got fruit netting this year… I’ll be watching them suckers closely.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. 8 got voles tearing my raised beds up. I understand. I hope the netting works for you.

My first year with my Asian pear I had the birds coming and pecking every single pear. The following year I got organza bags and put them on every single one of my fruits and now I’m the one eating Asian pears instead of the birds and critters

HEY Tony!!! I'm glad you are eating the pears instead of the birds. I'm going to do the same thing. I thought about using bird netting. I like your bag ideas. Thanks for the tip

@@GrowSomethingTasty I found it at Costco. I figured why not?. I'm currently waiting on 4 trees that will grow in zone 8 that aren't common in my area. (Mandarin, Ruby Red Grapefruit, a cold hardy Avacado and a Banana tree. So excited for these! I got a lemon last year and it survived so Im moving ahead with more and more. It's such an addiction. Lol

@@GrowSomethingTasty so you have to find a nursery that has the legal right to sell them. They are a "copyrighted" from WSU. If you haven't had one, they are super good. They have honey crisp as a part of their profile so very similar. I'm up in WA for reference.

Do you have any problems from your peach trees leaking sap. If my wood chips are touching my peach trees the borers come and attack them.
