Here I am also in Jersey looking at my yard, sad face:( I grew up in the Caribbean, Barbados and my grandad had the entire property planted with fruit, vegetables and herbs. He used the water from the kitchen sink to water most of it and made a complex aqueduct-like complex of stone streams to water the rest. It was beautiful and delicious. I do not have a lot of fruits or veggies at home but I do have a plot in our town's community garden that is flourishing. One day James I will do as you have done, no grass period! At home I have planted lots of native pollinators and have a blast watching the birds, the bees and the butterflies feed.

I have a huge garden and it's just grass. I hate looking at all the grass!!! So watching you and other youtube gardeners has inspired me to get rid of the grass and go full permaculture. Ive already bought a polytunnel, planted 2 apple trees, 3 blackcurrant bushes, loganberries, tayberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and all kinds of vegetables in my new raised beds!! Thank y’all for this incredible video! There are so many gardening videos online and so many new gardeners that it’s good to have videos like these showing that nothing happens overnight and it didn’t always look like this. I find myself getting discouraged quite often as well. It’s easy to fall into the trap of negative self talk. Noticing what’s wrong is so much easier than giving credit for what’s right. Telling yourself you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s too hard, there is too much to learn, or the garden is not as good as everyone else’s and it’s time to just quit is a struggle. It’s easy to forget how our concept of time and how our environment’s concept of time are two opposing forces. The time that nature takes is much longer than ours. I heard somewhere that the 3rd year is really when there’s a noticeable shift in the garden. After taking time to develop the soil and attract beneficial insects-which may not have been around in any big numbers to begin with-the microclimate established in the garden is really beginning to noticeably balance itself out around that time. So again, thank you James and thank you Tuck! Keep growing on!!

My wife Jenny and I moved to the house and garden we are in now last year and with 250 feet of garden and me reaching 70 I needed some guidance. You have been my inspiration and mentor as I’ve adopted many of your ideas. The best being the use of wood chips as a base. I had to clear a mountain of thumb nail size stones which was apparently used as a labor saving idea by the last occupants. Love your garden, love your channel. I consider you my neighbor since I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I now live farther north in Pennsylvania and love growing food. My parents had apple, pear and peach trees, grapes and berries. In addition my dad created the most beautiful vegetable garden. I remember the ropes he braided with harvested garlic and onions. He would hang them on the rustic wood shed. I now have the pleasure of growing vegetables in the garden that my father worked foe 40 years before my son and I started. I completely agree that this is what we should be doing as a nation. Here in my local community, we've decided not to mow our lawns or use Roundup or other pesticides. Instead, we're letting our lawns grow. So many edible weeds and plants you can grow in your own backyards. We're also letting the lawns grow in a couple of abandoned houses, to supplement our neighborhood stockpile and donate the surplus to local food banks and church pantries. I have a lot of land that I have turned into a garden rather than a yard I do have a small area of grass to sit in and enjoy usually going over garden stuff. But I enjoy having my massive gardening area

I love gardening and I miss it a great deal. The squirrel ray up our pecans. We have about 4 trees. When I was younger and living at home, I grew squash tomatoes etc but the squirrels eat everything now. My parents don’t even bother anymore.

Wow, I feel like a turtle compared to how you have progressed. I have been working in my garden for about ten years now and I didn't start my fruit trees until about five years ago. This year I lost three trees to peach leaf curl and my third Bing cherry. Yes, Bing cherries are suppose to be able to grow in Zone 7, but they won't grow in my back year. I guess they must hate my clay, hard , wet soil. Oh well, out with the dead trees and in with more pears. I finally have three apple trees that can deal with the cedar rust in my area. It has been a slow upward trip, but even with these problems and the Bermuda grass in my yard, I'm not giving up!! God bless y'all and keep growing!

I started last year with green peppers,sweet peppers, scallions this year still learning 😘planning on buying a fruit trees next month Thank you for your inspiration ❤
