Food orders that just don't make sense (Chili and Seabass)

See. If someone told me that about the veggie burger, I would wonder if they thought they were ordering a burger that has vegetables on it and double check they were aware that it is a meatless patty.

I used to work at Starbucks and this order still pisses me off: we had a customer once ask for a venti cappuccino with no foam. Cappuccinos are half milk and half foam. We asked if she wanted milk to the top (which would be a latte but whatever) and she just repeated “venti cappuccino, no foam.” Ok, we could just fill it up all the way with milk but the coffee taste wouldn’t be as strong, or did you mean the cup is half empty? She got all exasperated and just said “why is it whenever I order this, I get such a hard time? It’s a cappuccino with no foam!” Because it makes no sense and we just want a little guidance to make it correct! I forget what we ended up doing and to this day I have no idea what she meant. I don’t even know if what we made was what she wanted.

At some cafes they’ll ask you wet or dry, meaning foam or no foam… I wonder if this is why. Also, if you order a latte in most countries in Europe you’ll get a glass of milk, no clue how the US ended up with milk meaning coffee and milk 😂

@@user-pi5lx8dm6k we do wet and dry too and totally would’ve understood if that’s what she meant. I’m aware latte means “milk” and that can definitely cause some confusion. But I also once got a customer who ordered just a cappuccino but didn’t say the size. When I asked, he scoffed and said that we’re clearly not European because we wouldn’t ask what size for a cappuccino. He had a total American accent refused to tell me a size also. I think I ended up giving him a medium, there’s no reason to be that big of a douche.

@@carolinamurtha3102 lol, the size of an espresso drink confuses me too, there’s a ratio to any drink ingredients, so if it’s only 2 shots, how can the size change but not the shot count? Generally the coffee itself is better in the US than Europe, but we do weird things to it. 😂

For anyone who is questioning Preston's actions... every restaurant has a Preston... one server who just types in anything a guest says to them... even if they've worked there for a while and know the menu they'll still do it because they are just afraid of saying no outright or they just don't care and do just enough to not get fired... and every Chef hates their restaurant's Preston and will give them s**t non stop all shift as payback... it's a dance😆

Actually we have a local place where you CAN order just the chili on a hot dog bun, no hot dog...so I dunno 😐.

I work at a fast food restaurant that serves veggie patties, and I've had that argument with a customer before. Customer: "You didnt cook my burger all the way through,. it's still pink". Me: Sir that's not real meat it's colored with beet juice so it's always going to look pink in the middle. Customer: I know its a veggie patty, but i want it well done and this isn't well done. Me: sir it was cooked in an 800 degree charbroiler. All of our food is well done. Even if i sent it through twice I will never be able to cook the pink out of a vegetable patty. Customer: well i want you to cook it for me again. Me: NO! There is nothing wrong with that sandwich.

I spent almost 6 years working at mcdonalds here in New Zealand, we brought out a vege burger once, it was advertised as a meat free option but NOT fully vegetarian or vegan as it was cooked in the same oil as chicken, even tho it had its own dedicated vat, the oil was still filtered between all vats at that station ie a bank of 8. The amount of people that got shitty at us for it not being vegetarian or vegan due to the way it was cooked was a multiple times a day thing. Somehow the disclaimer that was part of the tv add and on all other forms of advertising for said burger seemed to be invisible They ended up taking it off the menu due to low sales
