@theflexitariantimes8140 Жыл бұрын
@@Sekir80 I appreciate that! In a nutshell, competing responsibilities crowded it out. The thing that I think makes the videos worth watching is the research and visual style with lots of custom graphics creation and b-roll. Researching, writing and producing a video this way meant I could come up with one every couple of weeks max. That means that total viewing hours accumulate slowly so it becomes difficult to reach the monetization threshold. If I can find a way to maintain the quality content while streamlining the production process, I may give it another go. There's more to talk about than ever!

Why haven't you posted anymore videos?
@theflexitariantimes81402 жыл бұрын
That is a great question! A couple reasons - first being that I've taken a position doing some communications work for a plant-based meat company that is in growth mode, and so my time has been limited. Which leads to the second reason, which is that I tend to make editorial and graphics-intensive explainer videos, and it takes a relatively large chunk of time to make one. I am considering reviving the channel more in the mold of many of the more successful KZbin channels by lowering the production values and increasing the frequency. To succeed on KZbin, one needs to publish with frequency and consistency, and the style of my videos has been an obstacle to both of those things! Thank you for asking.

From the Air Protein site as of 1/30/24: "Air Protein is rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, with all 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids and 2x the amino acids of soybeans." Not a complete answer, although it's probably discoverable with a little research. Air Protein seems to have made a lot of technical and strategic partnering progress in 2 years.

Who will be in control of the food production in say, 40 or 50 years, when most food is produced this way?
@theflexitariantimes81402 жыл бұрын
That is an excellent question. Although I'm probably not the best equipped to answer, it does seem to me that it will be open to disruption by emerging companies. Much like IBM didn't end up owning the home computer market, or Motorola the phone market, creative companies who understand the space will thrive. Incumbents who rely on large landholdings, massive processing infrastructure and complex supply chain and logistics structures will be at no particular advantage, and may in fact find themselves burdened with dead assets. Decentralized production and access to cheap, clean energy (which should be ubiquitous in 40 - 50 years) will define this new marketplace...at least that's how I see it today.

What do you think of the viability of small scale production? I guess the working knowledge for the production of Fermented foods will be kept secret by the companies? Only one of my brilliant friends was working in biology but left it after he grew disgusted at what he considered animal abuse. He is not so happy in his present work. Another friend is taking early retirement with a science based background & also might be interested. I recall collecting Rose Hips for money as a child for an old couple--they looked old to me at eight years--brewing wine in their scullery in the Cotswolds.

Vince you are making great videos! What company do you like the best in the precision fermentation area? Yes the products have to be almost identical to the ones they are replacing for people to adopt them. Very interesting how huge the markets are for proteins made from animal products, not just meat. When you can not tell the difference in T-Bone steak its game over!

Thanks! There are so many companies pushing the envelope with Precision Fermentation that it's hard to pick a winner. Kind of like in the mid 90's and deciding that maybe Pets.com had a better future than Amazon! I'll probably address this question in a future video.

I would like to see this used in an artificial food chain. Like if you made the protein to feed to bugs that you in turn could feed to fish raised in an aquaponic system. I find it interesting that you find value in density, protein density, production density, and yet promote the least dense form of energy production known to man. You recognize that density is "Green" yet promote wind and solar which take orders of magnitude more natural resources than advanced nuclear energy does to generate even more energy 24/7/365.
@peterdollins36102 жыл бұрын
Yes. I find it sad the world has turned away from Nuclear Energy. We need an International Safety Inspectorate to ensure accidents don't happen. The one in Russia was incredibly poorly run--a Nuclear Expert friend went through the ex-Soviet Union helping them to put safety into their systems, he was horrified by their lack of basic safety. The Japanese Nuclear Plant was known to be hazardous for over ten years before the accident. Still renewable technologies are improving & perhaps will be practical in another ten years time. Geothermal with the latest breakthrough shows great promise.

I get so frustrated with the relatively small audience for Vince's videos. I love the fact that the content doesn't come from a primarily pro-vegan or pro-environment position. The videos just kind of say: 'here's the big problem facing the human race, and I think that this is probably the solution'. The clips are in an extremely relatable format that wouldn't alienate those not generally keen to hear about the problems caused by their unsustainable eating habits.

Short story is that I took on some work that limited my time, and I accepted that my production style is fiddly and time consuming, and not well suited to the 'just hit record and start talking' style of more successful KZbin content. If I couldn't regularly create a video or 2 per week, there was no way I was going to monetize this channel. I'm still mulling this over.
