Those people that are allowing these spaza shop owners to rent their spaces must also be held accountable. Those people that continue to support these spaza shops must also be held accountable. Why must there always be a tragedy before the government takes note of complaints of it's people?

Close them all. Legal or illegal and rather try to get big markets to invest near rural areas that way the products will be accepted manufacturers and creates job opportunities. Black SAns have failed to run spazas for years. Government cant fund failures it just costs jobs elsewhere.

Investigate the manufacturers of those snacks the children have consumed, are the hygienic standards upheld? What additives are added in the manufacturing process? My guess is that the problem lies in the way these snacks are made as well as the expiry dates of these.

Many oriducts from the spaza shops( especially the non SAns)... are not produced from the well-known players/ brands or at least openly accessible to * all* bread,tinned foods,energy drinks,eno,medlemon, milk sachets,bottled water,ciggarets etc....and the famous * snacks....i was recently shocked by their quality of cement in my area...all is pilling off/ cracking...i am so disappointed....dander to the structures too

The issue is that most of these shops source their stock from the same manufacturers. Just one child’s death is already too many. Did you know the government lacks the capacity to conduct site inspections at Spaza shops due to the sheer volume of them?

What do you mean? They must close all of them because these people are not contributing anything to this country. All they are doing is unalive children. Dont talk from a place of comfort while people lose they children in numbers. These people dont even pay tax, so why do you think they must not close all of these shops? Will you say the same if it was 1 of your relatives or your own. Just because it does not affect you. At the end of the day, it affects other people children. These people dont even eat from they own shops. Please educate yourself on how people live in townships and then to be ignorant of serious issues.
