I work at a Costco in America and have been thinking of transferring to one in Australia for a little while now.

We are arriving in Australia at the end of October for our big move and we've been following you for the past two years. Your videos have been such a massive help for us, thank you.

We love those water bottles. We've had ours just over 2 years and took them on our road trip, from south of Adelaide to Darwin and back.

I'm in a small town in South Australia. We are a gluten and dairy allergy family (medically diagnosed, not Dr Google nor Dr KZbin diagnosed). We go to Costco once every 6 to 8 weeks because they have a better range and prices than I can get locally. Same goes for meat. I don't drive 2-2.5 hours to Adelaide just for Costco but also run a days worth of city errands to make it worthwhile. Plus, mum is only 15 minutes from Costco.

I have found that Costco pricing is about the same as Coles and Woolies prices when things are on special. It is a toss up between buying 3 on special at Coles or Woolies or buying one bulk size at Cosco, some things work out, some don't. Also as a single person I only do washing once a week so a 12kg of washing powder will last me about 3 years, a 48 pack of toilet paper will last roughly 48 weeks so it's ok to buy in bulk. Things like the 30 pack of eggs are worth buying because they can sit in the fridge for 6 months, but a 5 litre container of tomato sauce doesn't fit in the fridge and would take 4 years to get through, so the smaller ones from Coles or Woolies are better value for me. I don't eat that much cereal so a 500g box is plenty, 2KG box will get most of it thrown out. If I buy a couple of tanks of fuel a month the price of membership becomes worth it, if not I don't buy enough in bulk to justify it, especially if I am going in Coles or Woolies at least once a month to buy fresh food for work lunches.

We are thinking whether to still move in Australia or not we were more keen couple of months ago but recently we keep hearing from news that there is an economy and house crisis so we can’t decide whether it’s still worth it or not. Are the things in Australia so bad as they present it on the news ?

Any Costco store in Melbourne has 2 isles long for alcohol bevies and often do sample tastings. I am surprised they can't sell that in Brisbane!
@elaineevans85564 ай бұрын
costco in Adelaide doesn't sell alcohol either (not does Aldi) because State laws don't allow it

Costco is great for things you buy often, toilet and kitchen roll lasts us easily six months and great if you have children for school lunches etc. it is worth it in the long run. I’m a Costco executive member, any Costco membership works worldwide in store or online

We have the executive membership. Last year we made back $123 on our purchases, so our membership cost was only $7. As long as you make back more than $65 ($1750/year approx), you're ahead of a regular membership. You spent $980 so you'd be over halfway towards saving on your regular membership.

After watching this video from Toronto, Canada, I think things are little bit cheaper in Canada than in Australia. $100 a month is more than enough for a person in Canada. Canadian $ is almost equal to Australian $.

A lot was cheaper than in Canada! I'm looking forward to the cost of living going down!

Nothing was covering Samantha's face at the end. Costco is very out of the way for us, so we don't use it. Coles for most things, local butcher for meat, a stand alone greengrocer for fruit and vegetables, and a stand alone fish monger for fish. Price is important, but we've found that the independents have a wider and fresher variety.

I have an "ordinary" membership - whatever it's called - and I make my membership back in fuel alone. Mind you: the shop is close to where I live so I ONLY get fuel there, and they can sell booze in the ACT., so....extra bonus. By the way - their stewing steak is frigging great - cheap and cut into nice meaty chunks, not Cornish pasty dice. Slow cooker heaven.
