Fascinating. The relationship we used to have with our food sources, the work involved, the healthiness, and the deeper spiritual connection to the land and animals was a harmonious one.

I think a lot of us spend more time than hunters/gatherers obtaining our food and shelter. It's just that now it's the abstract process of obtaining money to buy it. The result is we are physically and spiritually removed from nature and her healing hands.

Gorgeous video. I didn't expect a video about rice to be so captivating, and if I'm honest, it feels like an emotional and spiritual experience.

It has been a challenge for me to figure out how to thresh the wheat I grew last year. I used my feet and it works pretty well, but slow. It is satisfying getting involved in every phase of getting food.

I've never done anything like this. I can imagine it would be very satisfying, but also, as you write, slow. It's easy to see why, throughout our history, we have spent so much time and effort acquiring our food! Good luck with the wheat!! -- Ralph
