The mini pancakes are called "Poffertjes" My question as somebody from the Netherlands: Wich food did you like the most? My favourite is "The Bitterbal" :) And if you want to return to The Netherlands another city you can visit is Utrecht. It has the Tallest building of The Netherlands that you can climb called: "De Domtoren". The city itself is not as big as Amsterdam tho.

Melissa Adami no I mean that it is bad to colonize!
@ncoppens7 жыл бұрын
It is bad to colonize and it is so embarrising they really don't teach the horrible things we Dutch did in those days in Dutch schools. You learn the basics but most people are horrified if they read a little more on the topic. But let's not forget it is a long time ago and America could not have been founded without. New York was indeed a Dutch colony and it was traded for Suriname which is mentioned in this video. There was gold there and it was a good spot to deliver slaves from Africa. Suriname became independent in 1975. Very late just like Indonesia which was given up (very reluctantly) at the end of the Vietnam war.

I don't really taste the herring. Thats why it should be a crime to serve pickles with herring. And don't cut it up! I'm not a child! (Obviously i'm not from Amsterdam, but from the Hague, where we eat herring like grown ups.)
@saskiapanter7 жыл бұрын
Weird he gave you harring with a pickle....normally it's eaten with unions or with nothing else, and Sateh is from Indonesia originally. But a very wise choice not to take the commercial tours...you've really tasted some Dutch food we actually still eat, and good beers...good choice. I hope you got to see more then just Amsterdam. Because to be honest it's not representing the Netherlands that good...only partly.
@maozedong446 жыл бұрын
Yeah in The Hague they just give you the entire herring and unions and you eat it classic style grab em by the tail and slide it in your mouth. The pickle and cutting the fish in pieces is barbarian.

With all respect De Jordaan has nothing to do with the french word jardin. there where no gardens in the Jordaan , it was an extreme poor and misreable neighboorhood. Some poet made up: De Prinsengracht is the Jordan river. The grand canals are the green promised land; Israël, the other side is Jordania. ''the desert'. You have know a little bit about the bible to understand.
