Ah so nice to see botok botok in this video. I believe that dish is originally from Java, Indonesia. It's also called bobotok in Indonesia. The coconut turmeric spice blend looks so beautiful! Oh man it's been a while since we had bobotok, I don't think we can find here in Australia 😨 Haha yep looks healthy because it's steamed, but be careful of the use of coconut, it might add some extra calories haha..

my late grandmother used to make these botok2 for lunch sometimes. it also meant that it was a special day because she had gone through the effort to get the herbs. Oh yes!!! Pisang goreng, we love pisang goreng so much. Because of so many varieties of pisang especially in South East Asia, different places selling pisang goreng has its own unique pisang goreng style. We love pisang raja too! It's a type of banana that is great for deep frying. In Indonesia, for pisang goreng, we also love to use pisang tanduk (like plantain), pisang nangka, pisang kepok, but agree with Greg that pisang raja is so sweet, perfect if you like sweet ripe banana 👍 Oh you guys also eat pisang goreng with sambal kecap/kicap in Johor Bahru, similar to in Makassar, Indonesia, they eat pisang goreng with sambal😍

This was such a fun video, whenever we travel we love to experience old, local eateries like these restaurants you featured. That banana cake looked light and fluffy and how amazing that they sell it warm, right out of the old brick oven. I'd wait in line for that too :). That coconut wine looked incredible, I hope one day I'll get to enjoy mug of that. 🍻 I'm new here, thank you for taking us with you on this historic food tour, I enjoyed it!! I'm sticking around to see what you will post about next! 👍🏻💖
