Just heard about this from Ashley. I've been waiting for someone to do this. I have much reading for Feb so expect a very modest list. I started The Land Where Lemons Grow last night. My favourite food book is my top 2023 book -- Eating to Extension. I have 3 food book shelves plus hundreds of cookbooks - I will not be without possibilities. Tasting History with Max Miller is an interesting and fun channel - his cookbook is very good too. Good luck. This readathon, I expect, will be an annual treat.

I love food writing - this will be amazing to get some recommendations too! Off the top of my head, I can think of under the tuscan sun, the particular sadness of lemon cake, bread and wine, big bones, Yerba Buena. I'd love to hear your recs/ tbr 😊

Oh I don't think I've read any of these so this is fantastic, thank you for sharing! Have made a note so I can do snoop at all of them 🤩 I will for sure post a TBR and I'm hoping to make time to record a lil foodie recs video so fingers crossed!! 🤞

I love food!!! Aside from books/reading/literature, my next greatest pleasures are music and food. I have done my best to incorporate my love for food into my channel in a few different ways. The members of my channel love food, too, though, so it is a mutual effort. I am happy that you and Ashley put something together, especially since food is such a broad topic of discussion. I am currently planning to dip in and out of two cookbooks that I would like to read and cook from (my rule for cookbooks is that I must cook at least three recipes before I give a review) during the year. One of which includes recipes from bed and breakfasts in my home state and the other is about Transylvanian cuisine. I did cook alpaca cookies from the bed and breakfast cookbook and they were really good. I do have a collection of books that contain food writing essays from a few different series'. Are you subscribed to any food-related magazines? I am only subscribed to Culture, which is a magazine my cousin gifted me a subscription for that is all about cheese. I would like to visit more restaurants in 2024 as well. Thank you for sharing and I am eager to see how this takes fruition! Goodness, I can talk about food all day if I had the ability! -Josh

Ah this makes me so happy to hear, Josh! I also have a new cookbook that I'm hoping to try some recipes from while the readathon is happening (it's a Sri Lankan cookbook so I just need to gather a few spices that I don't have before I can get cracking!), but both of yours sound fab. I don't know anything about Transylvanian cuisine (apart from that paprika is used because they mention it in Dracula??) so that sounds really intriguing! Cheese magazine sounds incredible! I use my library app to read some of the food magazines they have available, stuff like Delicious, BBC Good Food and Olive, but I've been getting really into food writing substacks recently. There are a few food writers like Rosa Shipley, Ella Risbridger, Hetty Lui McKinnon who send semi-regular email newsletters and they're all super fab (there's a free version and a paid-for version - I'm currently just doing the free but I think I might splurge on a few of them because they're so interesting!). Super excited to have you joining in, looking forward to hearing how you get on!!

i feel like the game Venba fits. It's a visual novel-esque narrative about a Tamil family in Canada, and how their experiences with immigration make them all feel as an educated illustrator, a licensed educator, and a newborn child, all told around the meals prepared by and for all of them

Oh that sounds amazing and would definitely count!
