Im from Sicily, and one thing I will always remember from my grandparents is just how poor Sicily was compared to the rest of italy. And the difference between the common Sicilian and the well off sicilian was doubly obvious. But even so, my grandparents used to tell me that all the rich died young and their kids always had health problems. Why? Bc we grew our food and had what was available, the rich ate meat and butter and sugar. We walked everywhere, they had cars and buggies. Being rich doenst mean anything when youre unhealthy and miserable. Don't fret, you're not missing anything

During my honeymoon, I had the pleasure of 2 SLICES of Kobe beef. It genuinely brought me to tears. It almost immediatley dissolves on your tongue because of the high fat content, yet its not a 'fatty/oily' feel in your mouth, more like a luxurious creamy, very very delicate flavour. We videoed ourselves and we are literally not saying a word for 2 minutes straight just sitting there in utter shock. so yeah, budgeting for tajima beef!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I ate on that list was Kobe beef. It was when we were visiting Kobe in Japan as a family in June 2013. We were on a very tight budget because we had been travelling to many countries around the world since August 2012, and Japan was our last destination so my parents decided to spend 100$ on a small portion of Kobe beef and we shared it between us 5, and it was delicious, especially since my parents decided to make us wait hours before eating dinner which made the Kobe beef taste better, then we went to a different cheaper restaurant to eat our real dinner, it was great. What I really liked about Japan also is that sushi is much cheaper there than in North America and tastes so much better because the chefs are better.

I have little motivation for wanting to even try many of those foods shown. However what I really do appreciate is when you are at a really good (possibly way too expensive) restaurant and find yourself stunned by tasting something like carrot soup and feeling that you just ate one of the best ... of your life. Once someone got a 20 dollar bowl of carrot soup for an appetizer (I would never order because I like carrots but have never tasted a carrot soup that i would take a second spoon of). That soup was almost indescribably good, because it tasted not like carrots or anything else to compare it to. But, was also just the best soup I ever tasted in my life! Just tasted sooooo good! So that's better than most the things on that list that most of us could try it but are likely to not be impressed at all.

There's a little coffee shop in a nearby town that sells kopi luwak. If I recall, their price was around $400/pound? You could also buy an 8-ounce cup for $10. I would say it was worth it.

First of all great to see someone denouncing the luwak coffee industry. Second of all, every dessert in Japan is extra expensive because fruits are luxury products before being plain fruits. Third of all, donkey cheese is a cheese probably cut with goat or cow cheese cause it doesn't coagulate naturally.
