@dageide6008 you are absolutely right...very unfortunate how some people only hear things they hope to hear, rather than understanding the big picture about the foods they eat and how they impact health and wellbeing. Too much spinach or beetroot is likely to cost you more than you gain from consuming them. They are consider to contain high levels of oxalates, which ultimately can lead to kidney damage...now consider all the other things you may have done to damage those same kidneys...diabetes, hypertension, dehydration, high protein supplementation, high sodium/potassium diets, kidney infections, medications, etc etc etc All of the above can absolutely result in kidney damage which eventually turns into kidney failure.....

56:45 Ad far as nitrates go I find the mere two foods cited are not wrong but he lags out the highest readily sourced nitrate containing vegetable on the planet. It’s borderline negligent to leave out arugula. It stands above beets and spinach by 3-4 times and is available in every grocery in the country. Basil is also well above the the two vegetables mentioned. Beet leaves are twice as high as the root. Leafy greens in general are all higher than beet root. If you’re serious about making a noticeable increase in circulation make arugula part of your life and get beet with the leaves still on. It works! I can attest. Stamina, sexual function, and clarity of mind are noticeable within a week of daily consumption

@ModernHealthspan
@ModernHealthspan 3 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for sharing. Interesting. I have heard before (I think from Dave Asprey) that adding milk to your coffee reduces the benefit. And looking on the web, I see information both ways. It does seem that milk reduces the absorption of chlorogenic acid, one of the key compounds that Dr Li mentions. I can also find research that shows that it improves absorption and one that it makes no difference.

IIRC, someone gave an evolutionary reason why this may be so. When mammals were running around eating anything that might be edible, some of those things would be poisonous. There would be an evolutionary advantage if the young mammals got at least some protection from phyto poisons by ingesting mothers' milk that could bind to those toxins. Hence many plant chemicals seem to be bindable by milk fats. No idea how true this is or the extent of phyto chemical binding by milk, but an interesting and plausible hypothesis.

Kefir can give diarrhoea if it is very strong. Yes, they have levels. When it is like that, go easy by reducing or even diluting with water your intake quantity, Gradually increase it and you'll be fine. I have had similar experiences before.
