@@xZeru001x BG3 is a lot more popular than divinity, DOS2 Is still a good baseline expectation but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a couple more ambitious modding attempts with BG3

@@monodoro From what I've heard, BG3 is quite a bit more popular as well. DOS2 peaked at like 100k concurrent players at launch, while Baldurs Gate 3 is just shy of a million.

I tried installing the character preset mod and more hair variations today, but it caused my game to get stuck on 100% on the first loading screen before the main menu :( I installed everything correctly, i tripple checked. And i also installed all mods that are required. When i disable the Full Release Mod Fixer the game works again, but my mods dont. There are many bug reports lately, that the Full Release Mod Fixer doesnt work anymore or isnt required anymore.. but i dont really understand what to do now. It doesnt work without it, it doesnt work with it..

There’s weird and awkward drama with the mod fixer mod right now to be honest. It and the one I suggested are almost literally identical except for one pop up getting disabled that if you get improved UI (main mod only) will handle it! So there’s no harm or anything to use the one they have listed! Also in the pinned comment there’s a mod that should help with the 100% bug!

Do you have the extra lib mod that vortex requires? And is everything showing up in your load order? Also checking to make sure you don’t have any “elevate” prompts in the bell icon in the upper right corner might fix it as well!

I followed all these steps but saw nothing in my load order even when my mods were all enabled, deployed, elevated. They have no conflicts and when id go into game i would get an error that would close the game before i could get to the main menu. Spent 8 hours trying to figure it out the only fix i found for that was deleting my baldurs gate 3 folder in my local/larian studios/baldursgate3. Even though all of it was enabled just fine when i got into game it looked like nothing actually loaded.

I hope and wish that modders just stick to vortex as a mod manager from now on , it's way easier to apply mods and disable them. And it will easily notify you of newer mods. This can promote modders to upload mods onto nexus more often than to post them unsafely offsite.

@@InjuredPelican I made my first attempt at modding last night, and I thought I HAD to download BG3MM because "tav's hair salon" and "character creator wip" both had it listed under requirements. So I got vortex set up, went to download those mods, saw the BG3MM requirement, clicked on it, and was surprised that it was a wholly separate thing. But I did it anyway because I thought I had to. Got lost, and found another tutorial by Day_Sky to figure out how to use BG3MM. I eventually got Tav HS to work. However, Food then Games responded to my comment and said BG3MM isn't necessary at all. So...how did you delete BG3MM and any mods you had on it without messing up the vortex side of things? If I just delete the whole file will it still work via Vortex? I have 0 mod knowledge and abysmal computer skills.

Glad this worked for most people. I followed this step by step, *made sure to install the requirements of each mod and once everything was done I opened the game. It loaded normally but after 10 seconds it crashed and I got a bunch of messages from the BG3 launcher saying the cause was mods etc and now won't let me open the game. So now I'll have to figure out how to fix it :c

Had the same problem, followed all the mod requirements, made sure there were no mismatches but still getting errors upon startup so I uninstalled everything, deleted all the mod files and my game still won't start, I had to delete everything and redownload. And I live in an area with exceptionally slow internet so not only lost my save files, but have to wait a full day and a half just to play again. Don't recommend trying to mod this game in its current state.

@@dyinginfashion2558 I eventually got it fixed, sadly Larian never responded back to my support ticket for some reason, but they had a blog(?) post about mod errors with about 6 or 7 possible solutions, I just did all of them and it finally let me play again. Crazy that uninstalling Nexus, deleting the mods, and then additionally deleting any mod info inside BG3's sub folders wasn't enough to stop the errors. Idk what finally fixed it as I did all the suggested fixes, but I am NEVER touching mods for this game again lol.

@@Damieboo There is a particular hidden folder called LarianStudios in your "user - name - appdata - local - global" folders, inside you'll find a document called modssettings or something like that, if you delete that one friggin horrible document you should be ok to start fresh. Keep in mind you'll have to turn hidden folders on to be able to find it. It took me 20 hours but I finally figured it out lol.

I've used Vortex for years and I love it, it's incredibly simply and I've never had a problem. I started using it for Fallout (mostly 4) and Skyrim. Many people will rave about Mod Manager 2, because it came out first so they are hooked on it and will claim Vortex is crap. It is not. Vortex is way easier and works every time, figures out Load Order maybe 99.9% of the time, and even if it doesn't due to conflicts it's simple, you just have to read the instructions and do a little more work.

Honestly unless you have two mods doing the same thing I wouldn't be too worried about load order. But general rule of thumb is the mod you want to have the most priority over all the others should be at the bottom!

Thank you for this video. I'm very leery about modding this game, as I don't really trust mods that can't be added via Steam workshop. But your tutorial made me want to at least give it a try. After 400 hours of game time I've done just about everything in the game, and need something to spice it up. I've just never trusted Nexus. But your tutorial at least has convinced me to give it a try. Update: I tried to use this but Vortex is a train wreck that doesn't work well if you're using a dedicated gaming drive other than the C: drive and deploying mods is next to impossible. Guess I'll just not mod the game. It's too frustrating.

I used to use Nexus mods for over a decade skyrim for instance has so many mods on it that it crashes the game sometimes. Fallout 4 has some amazing armor mods. But ever since they had to open their d*** mouths and get political instead of keeping them shut and just providing a good service I will no longer use Nexus mods

The mod fixer is needed for either vortex or bg3 mod manager as there was a .pak file change during update 3 in EA. As for vortex vs BG3 MM it’s personal preference to be honest. I’ve personally had better luck with vortex so I’ve stuck with that!

hi! i remember trying to go through this process while being sleep deprived and now im awake and realizing i've fucked up because everything is going wrong and i have no idea what to do to fix it.... i accidentally messed with the staging folder according to vortex and i tried uninstalling and moving things around according to some guides and it seemed okay but now the game wont even open and its telling me all my files are misplaced so i'm very lost on what to do now :,) help did i irreversably fuck something up?

Easier to start over from scratch. Backup your save files and Verify the game files on steam, there are plenty of guides on that. If after the verification the game doesn't work, you should just uninstall and reinstall it.

Would NOT recommend trying to mod this game in its current state. I'm well-versed in modding games like Ark, Skyrim, Minecraft (massive modpacks with 100+ mods) and followed this tutorial to a T plus dozens of other articles and videos and no matter what I did, Vortex would not work. My game kept saying error at startup, and yes I was using the new mod fixer. So after 2 hours I gave up and uninstalled Vortex and all the mods, only to find out my game is still fucked. It keeps giving me an error for mismatched mods despite having zero files leftover on my computer. I've no choice but to reinstall the entire game, and lose any save progress I had. This is apparently a common issue if you check forums. Such a headache and not worth the risk when new updates come out and break the mods. May try it again in like a year when the game and mod community stabilizes but save your sanity for now.

try deleting everything in AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public (except for Savegames folder) that fixed the error for me

For what it's worth depending of if you were trying to mod before or after Patch 1 mod fixer isn't required anymore. as the compiler is built into the game. However the "new mod fixer" was actually the patch 3 one that a lot of people were having issues with. There are also several files in the appdata folder you can try deleting including all the modsetting ones to help solve the issue.

Load order is what order your mods load into the game. Mods at the bottom load in last which means the game will always see them first and will overwrite any mod above it. It matters if you have two mods that do the same thing or similar things you’d want to pick which one overwrites or goes below the other to ensure you’re getting what you want. Or if you have a mod that alters another mod you’d want to make sure the load order was correct so you’d see the changes

If you haven't yet, double check in the upper right corner where the bell icon is that you don't have an notification to elevate or deploy. Continue to do so until you run out of that as it usually fixes this issue of things not deploying and working!

well this is so disappointing, I cant get this to work and everyone in the comments is talking about how easy this is... when I go to load the game it tells me I have corrupted files, and I get stuck in the load screen. I only have Tav's hair downloaded, wanting to test it and I can't get it to work... I guess its not a huge deal I'll just keep playing without mods, but I love all the extra outfits and hair and face presets and was really looking forward to adding those items to my game. I'm not new to modding either. I've modded Stardew Valley and Sims 4.. but can't seem to get this to work...

in the upper right corner you should have a little bell icon -- make sure you've elevated/deployed until that notification disappears! Also I'd suggest installing only one mod to start to make sure it all works. then add mods in slowly after that to ensure everything is compatible!

hay is there away to fix the character back ground it show up black or black background with the my character shows up shirt less and his chest I tried using verify integrity of files and it's not working. anyone else have that problem?

That's an interesting bug. Do you have the modfixer mod installed? If not that could be part of the issue!

I just wish I could figure out Eyes of the Beholder. I want to use it really badly but it doesn't work. Mod author says if your eyes show up as full white or black then it's working. But it's not. I downloaded my cat glow preset and it doesn't show up. Even when I play the game I'm doing everything to mod author asks and it's working for everyone else so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong

It might be a load order issue -- double check that in your load order the main eye mod is above whatever preset you're going to use is. Also make sure you're playing an elf as it seems the glow only works for elves!

Is it possible to have a modded and unmodded version of the game isntalled on the same computer? i seem to be having trouble with this. I have the game on steam and want to play a single player modded game and have my multiplayer files without any mods. Is there a way to do this? i cant find a way myself and have googled for solutions the past hour, but cant find any :(

You’d just uninstall and then reinstall the mods as needed. You could try making two different profiles in vortex to make switching easier.

Hi. Can someone tell me which folder to choose? I have mods downloaded, but they are not in the game and I am hopeless. I don't know which folder to choose (2:05). thank you

The folder should be whatever your install folder is - in steam, right click the game, go to manage and then browse files and it should pop up with a windows folder and that's the game address. However, before you do that I'd make sure that in the upper right corner you don't have any notifications with the little bell icon. You want to make sure if you have any "elevate" or "deploy" options you do those until you run out of them as that usually fixes the problem!

urgh, i feel like i tried everything and the basket of equipment still isn't working lmao i tried doing it by myself multiple times, nothing i tried with this guide, nothing atp i've got no clue if it's cuz i'm already deep into the game or what. the dude in the druid grove doesn't have the charm thingie to sell me, there's no basket on the beach (or i might be simply blind, but i doubt it) i guess i'll just have to settle for the more boring outfits in the game, pain

If you tried to do it manually but didn't update your modsettings file then that would be why it didn't work! As for Vortex I have no idea why it wouldn't work provided you've elevated in Vortex and deployed and can see it in your load order!

I followed the instructions correctly but now the game doesn't work. I'm stuck at the loading screen when I first launch the game. any idea how to fix it?

omg it actually works, most guide as messy but this was clean and useful ,thank you now i can do my 1 character run and not warry about carry weigh , and just focus on dieing coz i am playing tactician with 1 character D:

It depends on the mod to be honest! You might be missing a dependency that isn't allowing it to work or it might need a fresh save file!

I have no idea what I did wrong but it will NOT open the game, it keeps giving me the error message: " Failed to load from the current game mod (mod name here IE) BagBagsBags. The main menu in that mod requires the level . Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Larian support." ( I made this comment already but deleted it because i thought i understood where i went wrong.. I was incorrect so I need please please please please anyone. Thanks in advanced.

the little bell icon in the upper right corner should have a github link for it. You can manually download and install it instead!

I tried this and it immidiately broke my game, it wouldn't even get to the main menu, giving me an error message now i've been trying to fix it for 2 hours still no luck sadly....

Hi, if your game is still broken and you just want it back clean what you should do is uninstall the game, (frustrating I know), then go to your games directory (usually found here: \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common) and delete the folder named Baldur's Gate 3, this will ensure that all modified files that you or vortex added are gone, that way when you install the game again you should have a clean slate. Hope this helps.

I didn't get the prompt from Vortex to install that Divine tool. I had a View page Option but got all lost on the what, where, which to download. Something about dl these 3 files and put them in the External Folder??. I have no idea what to do now. Could some1 tell me?

the load order won't pop up for me! it says there's nothing to move :( I also changed it to direct 11 and it still says vulkan.

If you're using replacer mods there isn't anything to have in your load order. Double check the bell in the upper right corner to make sure there isn't anything to elevate/deploy. If so continue to elevate and deploy until you run out and that should fix it. For Directx11 vs vulkan it'll still say it if you don't change the text in the name section -- as long as your address bar says the right address it's fine. Also make sure you're hitting save after to save all your changes!

well poo poo. i found this modding info (and it's great info to be sure) a bit too late. i had already progressed my game to the shadow area (completed the inn, gauntlet of shar, etc) up to storming moonrise tower. the game stops you from going back to the underdark and to the beach area. i tried to walk back to the underdark and the narrator stopped me. QUESTION: is there a way to get these mods to work at this point? e.g. the basket of useful things from your other video, which i believe can only be retrieved on the beach or the druid trader.

Hi! I install my game in different SSD so the pathing address is different. Can I just add a mod folder in the steam folder where the game is located?

You're better of just repointing the vortex folder where the installed game is. As it doesn't read your game location that way with a mod folder or anything like frosty mod manager or something similar.

i watched this video to figure out why my outfit mod wasnt working, turns out the outfits i was testing were just for smaller female models, i'm using a tallest female i can possible, so the video wasnt needed, but still 10/10 video

im new to modding in general, and I don't really know what to do, i have some mods being tracked, but I'm afraid to try downloading them, because if something bad happens, I probably won't be able to figure it out due to being new to modding.

No matter what I do the mods just won't show on the load order page. I'm trying on steam deck and tried multiple modding tutorials, none work. I'm gonna give up modding this game altogether. Shame, I really wanted to try some of the mods :/
