that's just because in the end, they are just so relatable and just can put a smile on anyone's face with their usual banter and their typical back and forth twitting. It's the reason why Top Gear worked with them and JC and failed with the replacements: they have a chemistry that's hard to match

Hey Richard, if you’re poaching eggs that are freshly laid by your own chickens, you don’t actually need the vinegar as the albumin is strong enough to firm up beautifully without it. Of course you may like the flavour it adds, but if you ever have an annoying friend/colleague visiting who doesn’t like the vinegar flavour your (correct) method will still work.

In my humble opinion, "Hammond vs May: Who makes the best poached eggs?" is not only great cinema but also an existential work of art. On the level of Albert Camus or Samuel Beckett. In addition, the acting is superb. May is never out of character. Hammond has an edginess that makes the whole piece work. Then there is the camera work. Very unsettling. Always unbalanced. One actor upstaging the other in alternative shots. In fact, in one shot, the cabinet upstages both actors. That was great. I cannot say enough nice things about Poached Eggs. It is, truly, a great work of art. Surprisingly, Hammond's eggs appear to be just a good as May's poached eggs. So there is a lot a room for discussion here about process vs results. Truly a philosophical wonder. Keep up the good work lads.
