Welcome. I live in Bakersfield California USA and this is truly almond country. Almonds did struggle with the lack of water storage in California this year.

California Admission Day September 9, 1850. Let's be liberal and say it was discovered in 1750. Where do they get off saying the worst drought in 500 years? What records are they going by? The oldest record on a date is 1794. Why did they state something so untrue?

Our society is vile. We really do produce in excess at the cost of our world’s livelihood. How much longer will this go on til we change. Wealth is not health.

ALMOND GROWING IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL NIGHTMARE. OOPS sorry, caps. Almond farming uses ridiculous amounts of water. Farmers like that guy who uses pumped groundwater have removed so much water that the ground level has fallen by as much as 6 feet in some areas. Think of the ground like a sponge, when you compress it, it holds less water and unlike a sponge, the ground does not spring back into shape, so that the water holding capacity is gone forever. The short-sided greed of these growers is sad. There are so many other crops that do not use a fraction of the water that almonds need that they could grow. Stop buying almond milk. You are not helping.

@@ftswarbill you know what they say about assuming, don't you? And after your snide little comment, I can't decide who's nuttier: you, or the ignoramus who decided to empty lake Mead in California after record rainfall, all to protect a non-native "endangered" species. Have a great day! 😁

How is this better than butter from cows?
@mechanicalgardenthings3 жыл бұрын
Almond butter doesn't really replace butter from cows, it would be a replacement for peanut butter, maybe someone wants to try something other than peanut butter or they have a peanut allergy, but aren't allergic to almonds. Other nut butters are super expensive in comparison to peanut butter and almonds aren't really that great to grow because of where they're grown (an area that is short on water supply) and how much water they take to grow.
