Strider’s strike out and walk rate were higher last year than 22 but his FIP (and ERA) was a whole point higher than 22. I understand the ERA but the FIP being a whole point higher is bonkers to me. I cannot make sense of his numbers. He clearly has the best fastball in the league but teams with good hitters seem to he able to handle it. I am not gonna dig into his individual starts but I wouldn’t be surprised to see his schedule affecting his numbers that drastically.
@evanwalker35135 ай бұрын
Teams with good hitters just sit on his slider and (try to) adjust to the fastball or at least they did last year. That’s a big reason of why he added a curveball this off-season. He needed a new out pitch.
@grantreill19665 ай бұрын
FIP is affected negatively by homers and on a rate basis Strider gave up roughly double the amount of homers so his FIP climbed accordingly, and the K% increase was offset by the BB% increase.

I will say I am a Toronto Blue Jays fan, but I feel like it can be hard to feel like there are very many pitfalls in like there is not one player from what I have gathered like Trout or like an all-around player who is consistently good at hitting and fielding As Toronto Blue Jays, I don't like the Yankees the most as I feel like they buy their players and think it will work when that's not necessarily the case. Too much all-star talent does not equate to consistently winning teams and a championship. I am glad that from a Jomboy media perspective, the Yankees fanbase may not fully be how I feel like the team can be. The Yankees remind me of the Patriots in teams of quite toxic team vibes, who they are better than everyone else 👀👀👀👀 I have only also just recently come back into more baseball passion, and when I was previous, there was A-Rod and Jeter era I am also national league wise, I am passively Braves Fan (sorry Jolly 🫶), but I did live a portion of my life (I was born) in Atlanta (now I live in Canada and my dad and his family is from Canada and also Toronto ish area)

Are there any relief pitchers on this list? I am sorry but the best Relievers in baseball not being on the list of the 50 best players in baseball is stupid.
@grantreill19665 ай бұрын
Bailey is on record saying that relievers don't generally make his list because their ability to impact every single day will be lower than position players and starters. I'm unsure how I feel about it personally but that's his reasoning and for what it's worth it makes sense on his scaling. Total value is too low, which is also why Yordan as his best hitter in baseball doesn't even crack his top 5 due to no fielding value.
@liamday4535 ай бұрын
as important as having a great bullpen is to winning baseball games, there is not a single reliever that is in the 50 best players in baseball. they simply do not play enough to be valuable enough to be on here

I mean I am a Blue Jays fan and I see Judge a lot, and follow these guys so I hear about Judge a lot. Acuna wasn’t statistically the best baserunner in baseball last year. Let’s get real here, Acuna offers nothing (among the big three things, overall hitting, overall defence and overall baserunning, in that order) that is top 1 in baseball. And Aaron Judge is the best at the most important thing in baseball, swinging a piece of wood really hard at a ball. The only argument Acuna has is the generalist argument, being a top tier hitter and runner but wait, Judge plays a more important position BETTER than Acuna plays a much less important position.
@erickivell77795 ай бұрын
judge is twice a better defender at a harder position are you stupid?
