The first 10 people to book a 1-to-1 video connversation with me with code FFBOOKMARK will get 10% off, and I will send them a signed, hand-calligraphed bookmark, sigilized to the Jupiter Archangel Jophiel. This is only valid for timeslots on dates 21-Aug. to 31-Aug 2023. When 10 people have used the code, it will no longer work. You can pick the different code FFNOBOOKMARK to get 25% off as a consolation, (or as a preferred choice, of course!) for those same dates foolishfish.simplybook.it/

When I was just beginning my path in 2000, initiation was believed to be of great importance. I've done a self-initiation, I've led a coven as a teenager, and later I moved on to a group, where I passed through a number of initiations, related to different steps in the group hierarchy. But, some time ago, the group became problematic and although I was a devoted follower, things were stagnant. After a year of thought, and after consultations with my non-human persons :) I left the group on good terms. And the final decision for leaving was me experiencing a true initiation while I switched my path in a nature walk. Now, don't get me wrong, the ritualistic initiations of groups are amazing and moving. But nothing will change you like a true initiation of your soul! No robes, no candles needed, just the reallity of your true self. I know this sounds vague, but my point is - don't feel like a group or some high ranking order will initiate your soul; don't rely on that and your path will flourish! I've been learning and experiencing more in the past year, that I learned and experienced with that group for more than fifteen years.

I fully understand 'the path of the lone wolf', for want of a better and less negatively perceived phrase. I can help a group but working within the group hampers me greatly because there is always some half wit who thinks they have the deluded right to give me orders. Keep up the great work FF. 🌅

I had joined an order that you mentioned and discovered that it suits me best to learn and work alone, which concerned me. I’d been on this path alone for awhile and was hoping to connect with others. I’ve since realized the necessity but this video helps relieve the residue of concern that pops up here and there. Since I began 10 years ago different teachers and entities have taken my hand for different periods of time. Each time introducing me to a new world I never would have expected. I consider each changing of hands to be an initiation. Excellent topic, thank you.

I’ve been so very strongly given the impression that it is important for my path to unfold inwardly without too much outside influences. Whenever I try to speed up my process or look to something else for the answers instead of waiting for the inspiration to arrive on its own or doing the inner work to receive the answer it muddles things up for me. So Im learning to trust that what I know right now is what I have the capacity for and is what I need right now. And anything else is ego. I don’t but in to most others perspective because I see their ego influences. As I see mine own😂 I’m on the path of ego integration I suppose. A lot of surrendering. A lot of miracles. A lot of trust.

(The rite is very simple and straightforward) As I work with the system I have correctly worked with it. Failure being a good teacher. Now being a priestess in a new tradition I struggle to feel I am truly initiated. I will spend more time meditating and communing with the new energies and forces. I was quite young when my initiation happened. It happened in the time of transition from childhood to teenage. I had an appendicitis but my symptoms were wrongly diagnosed as an infection of my stomach. So nothing to be done there but waiting. Few days later I completely broke done due to a bursted appendix and deadly infection and inner loss of blood. When they started the appendectomy I died. It was too late. My body already reacted with some mechanisms the medical personell had never seen before. It started to build up a kind of protective skin around my ruptured organs to stop further bleeding into my inner body. They said I should have been dead for at least two days. It’s an absolute miracle I was still alive when brought into the operation room. After I died on the table I had a wonderful near dead experience. First I saw how they tried everything they could to bring me back into life, I could count how many people were in the room and who they were. I heard the music they played. A few more things happened before I finally met „someone“ who showed me the path I have to go before the medical personell started to reanimate my body with the defibrillator. That pulled me back into my body. From that time on I changed my whole life and finally understood a lot of things. It also brought great relief to me in terms of my sleep quality. From a very young age on I saw ghosts and all kind of spirits and they came visiting me every night. I was so afraid all the years I was sent to a psychotherapist as my mum wasn’t so happy with a child coming every night to her bed for sleep, talking and describing all the spirits it saw. Now I was able to get in contact with them and understood the different kind of beings. I started meditation and reading the right books. I understood my ability to help people with different techniques. Healing other people, „talking“ to their animals solving problems with them, dealing with all kind of ghost encounters for them and lots more. Today I am 31 and still help everyone I know with all my abilities as good as I can. I don’t charge any money for my services because it’s my duty to make the best out of my gifted skills. But I never stopped learning and still get to discover new things with every day I wake up and live.

I feel like i had many steps into something like an initiation under psychedelics and nature, but the first time i realized i am not alone and i am not insane was when i first saw a gnawa music concert, and the presences they invited then have left a permanent impression on me, knowing who/what i can be talking to. I dislike scholarly approaches and textbook rituals a bit, the societies i am drawn to are more focused on oral tradition, and a lot of it would just get spoiled by writing about it, that's also what draws me to Candomblè/Santeria, with Capoiera being the bridge to this new world of occult practices. Butas a solo practitioner i have pimped my system of belief using qabbalah and other such things to create a personal mythology mixed with syncretisms mixing Buddhism, Vodou, Qabbalah, philosophy, pure rocknroll, and Gnawa and personal additions to make a sortof strange ensemble. Feels like my mind palace is a huge construction site that will keep extending even after i have finished settling most elements of my syncretism... PS: I love the memes, also ADHD, but this format makes me laugh and focus a bit more actually x)

I don't think I ever had a definite initiation experience. I just remember being able to manifest from a young age. I'd imagine something I want with intensity, maybe saying a prayer with it, and then the thing I wanted, a toy or pet for instance, would materialize at some point afterward. In my teens I developed an interest in psychism and parapsychology. Then the library at the high school I transferred to had an encyclopedia set called "man myth and magic" and I was off to the races!

Well, my experiences with groups, covens and a certain order were not very productive, in terms of personal development. I learned and achieve much more results working alone. Most of those experiences involved more the egos of the participants than magic itself. That being said, from each one of them I took some piece which helped me to build up my own system, besides precious pieces of general wisdom. In conclusion, it was worth the time, but only because I never took it in a religious way, I never let myself being caught in other ego's narratives.

Your thoughts on practice were great, it really is true that getting a fancy title doesn’t necessarily make one a good magician! I’ve been through both types of initiations. I worked in a traditional GD order for a long time, and also have had initiations which “naturally” happened, and were separate from group work. As you mention, groups like the Golden Dawn are good for someone who does well in structured work. I tend to do well in those set-ups, but ultimately left the group because the leaders at the very top were controlling and did some things which were really… not good. For people considering an order, try to remember your superiors are still just human, and it’s OK to leave if iffy things are happening! At the time I left, I was at a stage where it made sense to be more independent in my studies and practices anyways. So I took the events leading up to leaving as a bit of a push from the spirit world to fly out of the nest, haha! Now I prefer independent initiations and work. I don’t regret my time in the GD, I made friends in the magic world, who I work with to this day, plus it was a good place to learn and build up confidence. It’s a bit scarier navigating the non-physical world independently. Part of that is the group instilled a fear of going outside of the order’s structure, as in “you’ll go crazy if you work independently”, (again, the people at the top were controlling, not every group is going to do that). I feel like the current set-up is psychologically much healthier for me. Having seen both types of initiation, I don’t think group initiation is a must, although if I were going to do a specific initiatory tradition (such as the GD), I’d probably still seek out an in-person group because there’s something lovely about taking in the ritual with new eyes and having real people supporting the process. But I’ve seen lots of people just naturally fall into initiations, and have beautiful experiences going that route too!

I self-initiated spontaneously a couple of years ago and formed bonded, committed relationships to the spirits I was working with at that time. I have since started worked through both Quareia and the Hekateaon and it's a relief and a joy to have a structure around which i can work my practice. I've always been leery of committing to a group that has levels, where information is only revealed after you've made a significant time commitment. So Jack Grayle and Josephine McCarthy won my loyalty by being open and up front about their offerings.

There was a time when I thought social/group initiation was necessary. I think it's fine if the group has or does something one wants to be part of, but it's not a requirement. Everyone has an innate ability to connect to Spirit or Deity, and building a personal, solitary practice ensures a uniquely-tailored craft. Spirit will lead you - you just have to trust your intuition. That said, nothing wrong with being part of a group. For some, the social aspect is enjoyable and fulfilling. It's no longer sonething I seek out - I can relax and let my practice evolve at a natural pace. I do enjoy the occasional get together with other solitary practitioners, just for a sense of community, but am perfectly happy with my own private practice.

My initiation was a bit like Carl Jung’s synchronicity. First, while I was at uni about 10 years or more ago, I was in a book shop and a big book by Jonathon Black caught my attention and I just had to get it. I devoured it through a summer holiday and it was all about the history of the world according to the mysteries and secret society’s teachings. I was hooked and it was the start of my path. My most meaningful initiations through the years since, have been more shamanic and to do with the Celtic and Viking traditions as well as alchemy. I realised a long time a go I was more into chaos magic, gnostic teachings and anything that gave me direct personal experience. Its always been a spirit approaching me that initiated me into a short path working.

It's a tricky business. In my observation of the process in the Tibetan Buddhist context, there are social, political AND spiritual effects of initiations. If the initiator is simply a big player politically in that community, you may not experience much during the initiation. It is taught that having the spiritual effects come about is up to you, to your own work, past, present and future. However, from what I've seen, there has to be an initial contact on the spiritual level through the agency of the initiator (chief celebrant). You can tell from your internal response to the ceremony, or ceremonies, led by, for instance, a highly accomplished yogi in contrast to those led by highly trained political leaders. The initiatory actions, externally, are exactly the same. Your work afterwards is exactly the same, but it helps to have had the engine given a jump start. Surely there are big names to connect with, there always were. It's up to the student to do the right homework in any case. And you can't rely on the wisdom of your superiors, no matter how highly accomplished they are, to substitute for your own wisdom and intuitions, presumably trained intuitions. Like you, M. Poisson, I have long had (undiagnosed) ADHD, so what I have learned and/or accomplished has purely been through my personal efforts. Some people in addition are not "clubbable," and that is especially so if you are (as I am) Aspbergian. So without some major karma operating in that direction, I can't see my having become part of a lodge. Every lodge within a larger tradition is different in many respects, just as every church within a larger church organization is, so you have to consistently explore your own intuitions. I love the Denning & Phillips books from long ago, but there have been some of them even back in the day that were filled with bolded print that gave me the willies. Nothing against their actual contents, just my intuition responding on my own behalf-or even just my own aesthetic. One big danger of joining anything is that of becoming a superfan of an individual or organization, setting aside your critical mind and personal intuition. But another danger is holding back when you needn't. It's good to explore these issues. Thank you for your thoughtful remarks. It as well to remember that we are permitted, nay, encouraged, to make mistakes and learn from them!

This video is an Interesting and thought provoking discussion. I suppose that my 'real initiation' was one I simply didn't understand. So many times, I would be busy doing something alone, and then would feel a presence watching me. I was a kid, felt a sense of 'leering,' and was afraid. I suppose I didn't have ears to hear if I was told 'don't be afraid.' I've had religion on and off, one of them very much in line with the ways of an initiatory order. I agree with you. 'Institution' and the sort of machine factors of institutions tend to undermine the core truth of the Sovereign Self. And I think that true initiation is Spirit and you, maybe a kazillion times for different things or even levels of a given thing. I'm liking Quareia. It's a bit tedious going line by line, as it were, but on the other hand, it's so well put together that you can use it even as a map that you come back to when you find yourself in some spiritual/psychological gulch. For now, I'm following line by line, mostly 'exploring ahead' to learn how to make sense of things I've experienced before and decide what to explore next. At some point, the formality of Quareia training and my experience will be ready to proceed without having to go 'play pickup,' and it'll be full speed ahead on the new. It'll be a sort of clearing, I think. That's my 'take' for now. I hope it is useful!

I've realized as my life has progressed that I keep getting initiated but i didnt know it until recently lol. Many of the trials and things i went through in my younger days line up almost exactly with many of the entry level initiations ive read about the past month or two. Initiations of the elemental energies, which i didnt even know you could be initiated without a group lol. I guess hanging out in nature alone for years and years as a kid just brought me closer to the elemental energies, or at least thats my best guess. Your description of adhd and group learning hit home for me haha. If someone tells me to do it, almost certain im not gonna lmao. You know ive looked into many of the groups, and I still havent found one that vibes with me. This video was right on time, I've been looking forward to watching it. Now I just have to learn to trust entities i dont know, which is my real issue now lolol

i feel that initiation isnt granted by anyone or any group or coven. if you begin your journey into what ever spiritual path you FEEL is right for you, you dont need to be accepted into or juried into any organized group or organization or individual. your initiation i feel comes to you the moment you have this desire that keeps growing within yourself that is inescapable and pushes you to seek out certain knowledge. that is your initiation. blessed be.

I was jumped into a group of initiates that I did not want to be involved with. One of the members of the group tries to syphon information off of others (and drags other members down) because he can’t learn anything new; he refuses to follow his HGA’s simple instructions (like getting off of tiktok and stop trying to be a famous tarot reader who uses black magick on his followers). Sometimes the initiation process brings us to more simple instructions to advance, and other times it is more vigorous ritual study (or more academic study, depending on the will and the HGA’s relationship with one another).

40+ years I talked to people from a true coven. They said it best. "There are those of the bloodline that can perform true magic. And those who aren't... We wrote this book on magic for those who aren't. Tiny acts of magic for simple people to feel powerful. Not trying to be mean. It just is the reality of things." Just saying 😉👍

I also heard something along these lines, yeah. In some quick and mostly unnoticed moments of sincerity from the Master of the order I joined in the past. The descendants of a certain figure of the myths of the past were those with the true magical power in them, accordingly to these teachings. But most people just hear what they want to hear, only those things that confirm their fantasies of power. But, outside this paradigms (that probably are only a kind of control) of "bloodline", "personal power" (innate) or "pacts", etc, I found some forms of thinking about magic that really works for most people - namely folk shamanism and Chaos Magic. Of course, there's always someone more able than you in anything you do. And there are also the 'Mozarts' of magic, as is in any field. But I believe we must focus in being the best we can be at anything we decide to practice, despite our own hindrances. From jiu-jitsu to Magic, anything. We will not win all fights (that's one of the best teachings we get on the floor), but just by practicing seriously we're already ahead of most of the population. Chaos Magic has more documented material to learn from. Shamanism has to be taught by... a shamam, and you need to really believe in the animistic model. So, don't buy this "only the chosen ones" narrative at face value. We may have our spot, although humble, in magic. But we must search for it.

Hmmm…I’m a sort of a Metaphysical knowledge addict & read all sorts but don’t try anything because I’m sensible. Even when I was little I wouldn’t read that spell to turn me into a rabbit because “everyone knows rabbits can’t read and I won’t be able to turn myself back”. My, did my sisters have a good laugh at that! The point being, I don’t mind learning alone and with ADHD it may be my best way to learn, but I do think some things are best done under adult supervision. If I did happen to meet an entity I certainly wouldn’t know what to say to it except that I hope I hadn’t interrupted anything important!

After a bit less than a year it came time for my initiation into a group, and at that point I left because I was able to see through the scheme. They were gearing too much toward giving of one's energy to the welfare & progress of the group itself, and their motivations as well as meditation inspirations were obviously politically driven.

I've been part of several wiccan groups but my first spiritual teacher was a powerful healer who worked with the Alice Bailey material and I would suppose I feel most like someone who has been "initiated" into the archane school, but it never had the social support and ritual expefience of wicca, so I'm torn about whether I should double down on wicca, joing a local group or focus solitaire on the AB material. Would love to hear other's experiences and of course your sense of the tradition that began with Blavaski.

recently, well the last few years, i think that i was approached by water goddess let me explain, a bit first, i started buying things, online, and in brick and mortar stores, all around a theme, then, i got used to to the theme, then, i started noticing other stuff, that i didn't know, at the time was connected so one day, i was on amazon, looking for more stuff, and the goddess statue showed up, a goddess i was not familiar with, and thought it was odd.. so i did a quick search on the goddess, and as the list was mentioning the symbolism, associated, i just happened to glance up, and saw some of the stuff i bought previously, as i kept reading, and glancing around my room, i was seeing everything they mentioned, ...i was blown away

i am drawn to the Aurum Solis..but i dislike the way they write their books for example.. Golden Dawn writers give you a basic pronunciation of words they use, and tell you the meaning of these foreign words in english , and show the hebrew letters.. the books on the Aurum Solis..the older ones just had the greek, and you were supposed to figure it out, and this was before the internet the newer ones have the greek, in english alphabet, for some words... and you have to hope they have a glossary, to find the meaning of the word.. i have this one book, out of print now, by David Godwin, who wrote the Godwin's Cabalist encyclopedia.. and it helped some with Aurum Solis.. but that is the problem, needing outside books, to help you understand the book you bought but i guess, once you finally connect the dots...you can finally use the books that's my opinion, based on having the older, and now the newer editions.. and what i had to do, and still am doing i mentioned it, to the author of "Adventures of a Magus", and they said they were thinking of writing a similar book, for Aurum Solis i have the golden dawn and thelema versions, and they are cool

Some would say I'm destined or a life of shamanism, and it certainly seems the case. I'm not terribly interested in initiation into a particular tradition. I prefer to learn from anyone and everyone, and my sincerity usually earns me many friends, even among supposed enemies.
