I'd love to see your assessment of APL's running shoes using this same tech in comparison to leading marathon shoes, I use the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% for marathons (and usually a month of pre-marathon training to feel comfortable to compete with them) and some Pegasus 39s for year round training, both are popular picks in the community for their respective purposes, and I'd love to see how the APLs do as both marathon shoes and training shoes.

I've had these shoes for just about a year now and I've noticed just how much more energy return I get from these compared to my other basketball shoes. When only using the shoe on indoor courts the traction pretty sustainable due to how hard the outsole rubber is, and the traction does break in some aswell. These shoes are a little clunky though when it comes to ball handling or being maneuverable in a guard position. This shoe is perfect for posts and power forwards who want to have a really good athletic game for offense and defense due to how much harder you can run and for so much longer you can run. I have also caught myself falling a little bit on the side of shoes and almost falling over myself so that is something to keep in mind. But overall it's the highest quality Shoe I've owned and it just lasts so long with the traction for how thin it is overall one of my best purchases with a custom orthotic to really up my game in ways I was lacking. Do be aware though this shoe won't really increase you vertical from a standstill maybe from a sprint though because the springs really help with using all of the energy your putting in the ground and giving it back to you in a way that makes you run a lot longer.

Hi Zach, had a few patients in these over 10 years ago. Worked well for sesamoid pain. I was never game enough to cut them open. All they do is enhance windlass, so always found it interesting that brands haven't really explored this.

One type of shoe I personally want you to review is double lasted sneakers like the Adidas T Mac restomods. I want to know if there's any performance benefits to that kind of build also since it was super popular in the early 2000s. I have the 2s and the 3s. The 3s after breaking them in are surprisingly decent. They have to be broken in I just want to stress that.

My problem with athletic shoes is that they don't protect the athlete. Many shoes claim to sacrifice protection for performance. In the mid 90s the NBA lost entire draft classes to fatigue injuries (knees, ankles, and back). The players that were injured were not physical players either. This was obviously do to too much grip and shoe rigidity. This caused to much energy to be released into the joints. NBA players wear a new pair of shoes every night, but those shoes have not been broken in. Stiff form fit shoe is a disaster waiting to happen. Your feet need flex to disperse impact energy. Sneaker should be design to absorb impact or redirect impact forces. They should also support the natural flexing and spreading. Modern shoes are hell on the insteps and are too narrow in the toes. Sliding is good too much traction leads to return energy. Shuttle runs are healthy. A circular would cause less trauma.

I have a pair I got a year ago for $100 off during one of the sales. The shoe has nice cushion but seems to have a significantly narrow base and somehow hurts my achilles after a while. Also, it is narrow at the ankle and you have to work your foot in. As for the price, you can get 2 or 3 pairs of comparable shoes or even 1 pair of nicer shoes and a carbon fiber insole.

The shoes are made to enhance athletic ability, not create it. Plain and simple, if you are not already an explosive athlete (jumping, sprinting, etc) these wont give you much help. Not trying to be disrespectful but someone with a 17" vert wont feel the enhanced effects vs a pro athlete that is pushing a 40". It is somewhat of a multiplier effect which is why the NBA banned them.

I honestly wish sports would stop banning passive shoe technologies. The business of sports is a major driver in clothing technology. When it stops being profitable; the technological evolution grinds to a halt. Normal people that could have had just a bit more help in everyday tasks never get to see the fruits of all that R&D trickle down into their clothing because the manufacturers cut their losses and move on to something else.

Similar shoe was the Nike Shock/Shok basketball shoes that was ban due to the "springs". Another ban shoe was a trainer by Hoka then Hoka One One in 2010's, that looked more like a Basketball shoe then trainer but was ban for a different reason due to the height of the midsole giving players a height advantage."

You're absolutely kidding right. How old are you? You know those weren't real springs. I was 16 when those came out. I had two pairs then and I have one now. They did nothing functionally. Not to mention NBA players wore them all the time while they were popular. They even had the series of boing commercials
@caseysmith544 Жыл бұрын
@@mrpope03ify Yes I know as I was 16 at the time too and knew they did nothing but somehow the shoes were ban for Track and Field Dimond league jumping events, and later NBA, not in NBA for the shoes themselves but for that but for the fact that somehow people bought up the crappy knockoffs from Turkey and China that were slapping the correct labels on them that had the exploding issue off E-bay where people got big discounts on the knockoffs sold as the real deal in USA always for 30% off. It was that some players bought the kockoffs that had the NBA making a decision to remove the shoes from play for safety of...exploding heels of shoes off the knockoff shoes. It was a different brand that had actual springs in the shoes heel now using a new name but same exact logo for the shoes claiming now in adds they are not legal for use in NCAA, NBA, WNBA, Or most Track and Field associations/Road Running associations in very small letters with * after the approved by US Podiatry Asssoication for pain relief use and * with the letters below *.

Love the vids generally, but I really just feel like you may not be personally qualified to assess the advantages this shoe could potentially be bringing. Not to say that you're wrong, but it seems apparent to me that your typical test metrics don't allow you to judge the way that the increased running economy can translate to improved jump height. You're judgement *could* be correct, but I think you should have tested with a more explosive athlete to test the claims and physics of the shoe

The zoom/max air pods that nike put in almost all their basketball/running shoes are WAYYYYYY more effective in returning the energy exerted in the forefoot and propel the wearer up/forward.
