I don’t think it’s a confort zone thing, it think some can’t do these kinds of events because of Contract obligations from teams these athletes signed to.
@stampinsundevil3 жыл бұрын
I worked at this event in January 1992 behind the scenes with the director and producers during the two days of set up and the event. I also spent time at the event hotel to pick up stuff and occasionally I’d end up being asked to direct an athlete. During the event I sat on the floor right at the foot of the three commentators. Any time the camera was on them, I had to crouch/duck down out of view. It was a lot of fun being a gopher and the bonus ended up being asked to drive Jimmy V and his wife back to their hotel just after the event ended. He insisted on sitting up front with me so I wouldn’t feel like just a chauffeur! They were both super nice. My friend drove Dick Vitale to the airport. Lots of great memories!

Cris carter won it the first year, then Kenny lofton won it the next year, then Conley won it the third year. Deion, bonds, and Griffey were never at any I attended. Irvin wasn't at any of them either. But Alvin Harper, another cowboys receiver, was there and he always got booed big time. True story, Roy jones Jr. Competed in one but didn't get any real hard dunks.

What a lot of people don't realize is that your average NFL Wide Receiver will record a significantly higher vertical leap than your average NBA player. This contest not only had a number of NFL players, but two of the all time great United States Track and Field Olympic medal holders, one of which holds an Olympic Long Jump record. These rims are undoubtedly 10 feet. I definitely agree with you though. I would love to see some of today's athletes competing in something like this. There are just too many divas.
