I can't believe I just sat and watched nearly 40 minutes about a reservoir and found it far more interesting than most of the rubbish coming out of Hollywood these days. Brilliant work by everyone involved. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to watching lots more.

Great video of a place I have been going to regularly for approx 50 years as my Grandad and Great Grandad both worked up there My Grandad used to be able to get a key for the bottom gate (locked in those days) from Bradford City Hall then at 9 years old he let me drive his car up the private road to the Dam and we would have a good look around while he told me about life up there, and how he rode his motorbike back to Greengates in Bradford to "Court" my Nana. I took him to many of the reunions that occurred up there of the workers and their families, and have been going up regularly since There is even a photo of my Grandad as a worker on one of the Yorkshire Water Information boards by the car park Andrew Bolt has also written a superb book on the history of Scar. Great job guys.

My Grandfather was the foreman in charge of the gangs that laid the pipework to Chellow Heights, Bradford. I understand that there are no pumping stations and the water simply flows under gravity.

The old canteen is now in Darley Village, North Yorkshire. The Hall was originally the canteen at Scar House Reservoir and was transported down the Dale and re-built to become what was referred to as 'the Marriage Bureau of the Dale' as so many local people met their partners at the dances.

My Great Grandfather Joseph Storey was a driver/fitter on the Nidd valley railway he work untill 1930 when the engines were sold off, one of engines is at Embey railway near Skipton, William & Arthur Storey were directors of quarrys nearby at time,

Wow...amazing. What a wander through history. There's similar spots (not as big) around Widdop where buildings and bridges once stood whilst reservoirs were built. Will go and visit this spot. 😊

@@BradfordThroughTheLens its a major feat of engineering. Architect, William Illingworth must have had a few sleepless nights … lol So if I am correct he did two firsts. He designed the Odeon, the first cinema in Britain to be purpose-built for ‘talkies’ and also the then highest reservoir at 71m in England at the time. He clearly liked to do things better than anyone else. Wouldn’t it be fascinating to go back in time and be a fly on the wall watching the day to day activities of his office. I wonder how much hands on he was and how much was delegated to his employees. Its truly astonishing what came out of that office. 😀

@@Janetgreen64 He never designed the reservoirs, he was deputy chairman of the water committee and turned on the water but all at the same time of the New Vic. He has done many other things for Bradford.

I know this is off topic but the house in Emmerdale where Rishi s dad lived and now Amit and /sunni live there is that in Bradford area? it looks old has it any historical history before being used for Emmerdale?

Yes it had its own sewage works just down the hill from the old village, two round settling tanks…..
