Tip 13-2 is about using A and B gap blocking schemes when the defense has two defensive ends that are too good at containing the outside runs or are rushing hard up the field on the snap. Coach Renner details the use of multiply blocking schemes against the defensive ends to slow down their up-field charge and confuse their block reads. He diagrams and provides video clips for inside zone, G pull, outside zone, 1 back power, sweep, and long trap/kickout. Giving a defensive end seven different block reads will slow down his ability to attack the offensive tackle or tight end and soften them to then be able to run outside. Coach Renner gives you his coaching tips on implementing these blocking schemes. He also tells you how to determine which schemes to implement first and when you might need to install some of the other schemes. Once you view this video you will have a clear idea of how to prepare your offense for when you encounter an opponent’s fast rushing and good outside containing defensive ends.
