Riyan has a passion for playing football. He loves the sense of community and energy when watching Algerian football matches, particularly when they won the cup in 2019. In the future he hopes to play for the Algerian team or a first or second division team in London.
This film was created by a group of young filmmakers aged 13 - 19 during a project that took place over summer 2019 at Platform Youth Hub, Islington. Facilitated by professional filmmakers from Chocolate Films, participants were able to develop key camera & production skills whilst exploring the stories of their chosen Londoner
1000 LONDONERS
This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a ten-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

TRANSCRIPT
After every injury, I was motivated to work and train, ten times harder. I was resilient and tenacious, I obviously never stopped believing in my own abilities. I enjoy playing football because, I first started when I was six, and it was kind of natural to be honest. When I was playing with my friends, I was always the one who was standing out. So then my dad took me to a football team, and I was maybe one of the best players there, so the team accepted me. I spend maybe two to three hours a day training. Sometimes I take two or three friends with me, but most of the time it's always me by myself, trying to kick the balls. I try to train with cones. And I usually go swimming too, maybe three times a week, just to improve my cardio. My best memory is gonna be when I was 14, we won two cups in one year, with a team that was in the seven division. We won two cups, and then we were going to play for the Algerian tournament. So it was basically the biggest tournament in Algeria. I've always supported my son, with his ambitions and thinking and going forwards to fulfil his dream and football career. I'll be with him or behind him till the end. If you really like it, just think why you started, cause you liked it. I hope to achieve a major cup in a way, or just to play with my national country, Algeria, because when we won the cup this year, 2019, there was a feeling that I had that I've never actually had before. It was something mental because there was there were probably fifteen-twenty thousand Algerians going to Trafalgar Square celebrating. And the feeling was outstanding. In ten year's time I probably see myself playing for a second division team and then going up slowly, or even maybe a first division team here in London. When my cousin was growing up, I told him that he can achieve anything that he puts his mind to.
